Horror as burglars pose as police to rob house in UK commuter town
Suspected burglars believed to have posed as police officers have allegedly been targeting a leafy commuter town.
Kent Police said two men wearing tracksuits, black gloves and vests similar to clothing sometimes worn by officers appeared to scope a property in Sevenoaks, Kent, at about 9pm on September 11.
The force has released images of men detectives want to speak to in relation to attempted burglaries and car thefts.
A spokesperson for the force said two men approached a property in Kippington Road before leaving the scene shortly afterwards.
They added: “Detectives are investigating separate incidents in the Kippington Road area, which are being linked to attempts to steal vehicles and burglary offences.”
Kent Police is linking the incident to a previous report of suspicious behaviour in the same road on Friday, August 23.
Two suspects wearing balaclavas tried to steal a car just after 1.30am, but left empty handed, according to Kent Police.
The force’s spokesperson said: “Several images have now been issued by investigating officers, who would like to identify and speak to those pictured.”
Anyone with information which may help the investigation should call Kent Police on 01622 604100, quoting reference 46/145895/24.

Impersonating a member of a police force or special constable is an offence under the Police Act 1995 and carries a six month jail sentence.
Two men were believed to have been impersonating police officers to gain entry into a woman’s home in Barking, east London before neighbours grew suspicious and asked to see their IDs.
A video shared online showed a woman telling them to show their faces before one of the men tried to grab her phone.
Furious residents then pursued the pair who sprinted off down the road.
