Vince Neil’s Girlfriend Saved by Pilot’s Final Actions During Airport Tragedy

Vince Neil‘s girlfriend was saved by the final actions of his private jet’s pilot.

The Motley Crue singer wasn’t on board his plane on Monday (Feb. 10) when it veered off course and collided with a parked jet while landing at Scottsdale Airport in Arizona, but his partner Rain Hannah Andreani and her friend were.

The pair and an unnamed co-pilot escaped with minor injuries but pilot Joie Vitosky, 78, lost his life in the accident.

Joie’s daughter, Jana Schertzer, “wholeheartedly” believes her dad’s skills helped to save those on board the jet.

She told the Arizona Republic: “I honestly, wholeheartedly believe that the reason those other passengers are alive — it’s because of how he handled it.”

Jana noted her father, who had been flying for around 60 years, first as a U.S. Marine Corps helicopter pilot and then working for private clients, was in good health at the time of the accident.

She said: “Like, nothing wrong. His vision was perfect — better than 20/20 vision.

“Instead of, you know, retiring and doing nothing, he did it literally until the day he died.”

According to TMZ, Rain suffered five broken ribs in the crash and her friend, who hasn’t been named, was also injured. The women and the co-pilot were taken to hospital.

And the passengers’ dogs also survived the crash.

Vince’s representative confirmed the news of the crash earlier this week.

In a statement, the 64-year-old rocker’s lawyer said: “At 2:39PM local time, a Learjet aircraft Model 35A owned by Vince Neil was attempting to land at the Scottsdale Airport.

“For reasons unknown at this time, the plane veered from the runway causing it to collide with another parked plane.

“On board Mr. Neil’s plane were two pilots and two passengers. Mr. Neil was not on the plane.

“More specific details regarding the collision are not available as this is a rapidly evolving situation and there is an ongoing investigation.

“Mr. Neil’s thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved, and he is grateful for the critical aid of all first responders assisting today.”

Speaking in a press conference, airport spokesperson Kelli Kuester said one of the jet’s two sets of main landing gear failed during landing, which led to the accident.

She added that the plane struck by Neil’s jet, which had traveled from Austin, Texas, was “parked on private property” next to the airport.

The Federal Aviation Administration has confirmed the incident is under investigation.
