Perry Farrell Taking Time ‘To Heal,’ Seek Medical Help After Canceled Jane’s Addiction Tour, Wife Says

Perry Farrell is taking time “to reflect and to heal” as well as seek medical help following the singer’s violent onstage outburst toward guitarist Dave Navarro that led to the cancelation of Jane’s Addiction’s reunion tour.

In a message posted Saturday on social media, Perry’s wife Etty Liu Farrell gave fans an update on the singer following the nixed trek. “As you know, Perry is the gentlest of souls. We are equally astonished at Perry’s physical outburst as you are – but you must know that Perry must had been pushed to his absolute limit.. to that end we apologize,” Etty wrote.

“We are taking a bit of time to ourselves, to reflect and to heal. Perry already has appointments with a otolaryngologist and a neurologist”; in a post following the Boston concert blow-up, Etty said Perry’s “frustration” from a continued sore throat and tinnitus ultimately made him lash out, thus the need to visit those specialists.

Etty also dismissed rumors about Perry’s alleged drunkenness as a contributing factor to the onstage tensions: “If you know and love Perry well, you know there’s no need for me to address the other false narratives. Our souls know.”

Earlier this week, Jane’s Addiction called off the remainder of the tour — which featured the band’s core lineup together for the first time in 14 years — following the onstage altercation between Navarro and Farrell last weekend. According to reports, tensions had been simmering during the run, with Farrell’s bantering with the crowd appearing to frustrate Navarro.

Upon the cancellation of the tour, Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins, and bassist Eric Avery said the tour was called off due to a “continuing pattern of behavior and the mental health difficulties of our singer Perry Farrell. Our concern for his personal health and safety as well as our own has left us no alternative. We hope that he will find the help he needs.”

Farrell himself said, “This weekend has been incredibly difficult and after having the time and space to reflect, it is only right that I apologize to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, fans, family and friends for my actions during Friday’s show.”

Etty Liu Farrell added Saturday, “Perry will persevere.. He will recover. He will be happy again. He will once again be able to share his music, vision and artistry – unbridled. Make no mistake when he’s ready he will take another giant leap over obstacles to make us laugh, think, while changing the world together.”
