Simu Liu Jokes After Seeing ‘Wicked’: ‘I Definitely Did Not Cry’

Stars are just like Us — they are obsessed with Wicked!

Simu Liu took to TikTok to film his reactions personally seeing the record-breaking movie musical.

“Wicked just wasn’t for me,” wrote Liu in the caption of his video. “It just didn’t move me emotionally. I definitely did not cry. The music is definitely not in my head.”

While his caption might seem harsh, it’s clear from his video that the Marvel star actually loved the film.

Liu started his video by saying “controversial opinion time,” before continuing that he doesn’t “get the hype around Wicked.”

“I can appreciate the music, I love everyone involved,” he said, keeping on with the bit. “It’s just not my cup of tea.”

It soon becomes clear that Liu is fully speaking in jest.

“If you have something to say to me, if you want to talk about it, then you can come find me,” he says, before launching into an emphatic rendition of the film’s show-stopping number “Defying Gravity.”

“In fact, so if you care to find me, look to the Western sky,” he began to sing, making his way through the song. “As someone told me lately, everyone deserves a chance to fly.”

Commenters on his video were pleasantly surprised by the end of his video — especially his impressive vocals.

One wrote “not him just auditioning for Wicked 2.”

“You got me in the first half ngl,” another said.

Liu isn’t the only star to express his love for the film online.

The Kardashian-Jenner clan had their own Wicked screening in October.

“We laughed, we cried (a few times) and we loved it so much!” Kim Kardashian wrote, alongside a family photo at their screening. “Thank you @arianagrande and @cynthiaerivo for watching @wickedmovie with us tonight. The most magical pajama party.”

“I feel empowered!” wrote Kourtney Kardashian on her own Instagram account.

Khloe Kardashian agreed, writing on her own Instagram that it was “One of the most incredible movies!”

Actress Keke Palmer tweeted “Wicked was fabulous. I’m holding space for aWoAHHHohhAHHHHH. PERIOD!” referencing the famous “holding space” meme from the Wicked press tour.

Wicked is the movie version of the Broadway musical of the same name. Released on November 22, 2024, it took the spot of highest grossing adaptation of a broadway show domestically, grossing more than $214 million dollars in the United States during its second weekend. This beat out the previous title holder, the 1978 film adaptation of Grease. Worldwide, Wicked had grossed $358 million dollars by November 30.
