Selling Sunset’s Chelsea Lazkani Is ‘Eager’ to End Her Marriage ASAP
Chelsea Lazkani is ready to put her marriage to estranged husband Jeff Lazkani in the past.
According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, the Selling Sunset star, 31, filed a response to Jeff’s October filing to be legally single on Monday, November 25. Per Chelsea’s paperwork, she agreed to bifurcate and terminate their marital status under certain legal conditions.
“Chelsea is neither stalling this case nor causing delay,” the docs read. “In fact, she is eager to terminate this marriage as soon as possible.”
In his docs filed on October 18, Jeff, 40, claimed, “[Chelsea] and I have not been able to settle our case in the last seven months since this matter began. I would like to move forward with my life and request that this court terminate my marital status.”
In her responsive court filing, Chelsea claimed that Jeff has “consistently caused delay by failing” to respond in a timely manner. She also alleged that Jeff changing his legal counsel has also “slowed” down their divorce.
Chelsea’s lawyer stated in the paperwork that the reality star is “agreeable to terminating marital status.” However, she is asking the court for procedural protections pertaining to a status-only court judgment in their divorce.
Chelsea is seeking “sufficient protection” for herself and their minor children. The exes share son Maddox, 5, and daughter Melia, 6. Until a judgment has been made regarding Chelsea and Jeff’s community assets, the real estate agent wants to be the sole beneficiary of their financial accounts, business LLCs and trusts.
At the pair’s next hearing — which is scheduled for December 10 — Chelsea wants a “clear record” of the court’s intention to grant Jeff’s previous request for order, per the docs.
Earlier this year, Chelsea filed for divorce from Jeff after seven years of marriage. While Chelsea submitted her paperwork in March, Jeff filed a response the following month.
Neither Chelsea nor Jeff have publicly spoken out about what caused their breakup. However in Jeff’s filing last month, he cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.
“I do not believe that the passage of time, counseling or any other assistance by the Court can save our marriage,” Jeff said per the docs. “Under no circumstances do I believe [Chelsea] and I could resolve our issues and reunify.”
Chelsea, for her part, exclusively opened up to Us about her difficulties filming season 8 of the Netflix series while she was coping with her divorce.
“I’m shaking right now because it’s still a little bit sensitive for me. I was depressed a lot of the time while filming for a number of months,” Chelsea told Us. “I don’t know how I made it through. But being on the other side, I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, I am so glad to be here.’ Because I didn’t think I’d be here at all, to be honest.”
Chelsea added that while she was dealing with her personal matters, she never let it affect her work and continued to show up every day.
“My mental health was at its all time low. I still filmed [though]. I did not miss a day of filming,” she explained. “I did not miss a scene. I did not miss a listing appointment. I didn’t miss anything when it came to work.”
