Ricki Lake Launches Cannabis Product Called ‘Ricki Lake & Bake’
Ricki Lake is getting into the cannabis industry.
The former daytime talk show host announced the launch of “Ricki Lake & Bake” on Monday, December 3, a product that she collaborated on with the California-based cannabis company Stone Road Farms.
“I obviously believe in this medicine, and in Stone Road’s brand and what they’ve built,” Lake, 56, stated in a press release. “It is so aligned with where I am in my life, and I’m so happy to be bringing this out.”
One pouch of “Ricki Lake & Bake” contains a half ounce of Stone Road Farms’ “infused solventless bubble hash,” which is grown on the company’s 57-acre farm in Nevada City. California, according to the release. Each pouch is sealed with “a custom Ricki sticker, making it a collector’s item.”
Lex Corwin, Stone Road Farms’ founder and CEO, also called it “a tribute to her iconic career and long-standing cannabis advocacy.” He was inspired to collaborate with Lake after visiting her Malibu home and learning that she not only consumes cannabis — she grows it, too.
Lake made her big-screen debut playing Tracy Turnblad in the 1988 comedy Hairspray and became more famous hosting her eponymous talk show from 1993 until 2004. After Ricki Lake ended, she released a documentary, The Business of Being Born, about home birth, and competed on Dancing With the Stars. In 2018, she unveiled another documentary, Weed the People, which explored cannabis as a treatment for pediatric cancer. She has since launched a wellness podcast, “The High Life With Ricki Lake.”
In October, Lake took to Instagram to post an amusing clip of herself struggling to film something after her “funny gummy” kicked in, and on a more serious note, revealed her involvement in the upcoming production The Midlife Monologues, scheduled to hit the stage in New York and Los Angeles early next year.
Earlier this year, Lake showed off her 30-pound weight loss via Instagram with two side-by-side photos of her wearing the same skirt 13 years apart. She also posted a carousel of photos chronicling her journey to a slimmer figure, which began in October 2023, writing, “I feel amazing. I feel strong.”
Lake’s husband, Ross Burningham, also shed more than 30 pounds. (The pair tied the knot in January 2022 nearly one year after their engagement.)
“I really want to share, because we did this without relying on a pharmaceutical. (Not that there is anything wrong with that.) But neither of us were pre diabetic and both of us felt like we wanted to at least try and do it on our own,” she wrote at the time.
Lake admitted that at her age — and in “perimenopause” — she was “a bit worried” that her body wouldn’t lose weight like she had previously. “I am so so proud of us,” she added.
