Nobody Wants This’ Justine Lupe Gushes Over Partner Tyson Mason
Justine Lupe’s Nobody Wants This character might still be searching for The One, but the actress has stopped looking in real life after finding her partner, Tyson Mason.
“I love my house, and I love my home, and I love my animals, and my baby, my husband, all of it,” Lupe, 35, exclusively told Us Weekly at the 2025 WWD Style Awards on Friday, January 3.
Lupe and Mason, who have been together since at least 2023, welcomed their first baby in August 2024. (The couple named their daughter Ellis, publicly revealing the moniker during Lupe’s November 2024 appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show.)
Lupe stepped out for a solo, baby-free and partner-free night at the WWD Style Awards, rocking a one-shouldered olive gown with her long locks down in loose waves. While on the red carpet, she gushed to Us about Mason’s sweetest qualities.
“I think it’s like the day-to-day little things that he does,” she told Us. “Like, for instance, he makes me a bath every night and puts out candles and some water with electrolytes and ice. Just little things where he’s just trying to make my day a little nicer. It adds up, and he’s just an amazing partner.”
Lupe, who previously starred on Succession, was pregnant while filming Netflix’s Nobody Wants This. (Lupe portrays Morgan, the sister of Kristen Bell’s Joanne, whose character is not expecting.)
“I auditioned knowing I was pregnant and that I was not going to be telling anyone I was pregnant until I was on the set and into the show,” she told Today last month. “The more evolved, feminist version of me knew it was not my problem, and that I’m going to be private about this, and it’s my prerogative. I need to care most about my mental health and the baby.”
She added at the time, “Erin [Foster], the showrunner, was pregnant, and two other women on set were pregnant, so four of us altogether. And I’m so glad I just tried to surrender and not freak out.”
Nobody Wants This is a romantic comedy series following the unexpected love story of Joanne, an outspoken and agnostic podcaster, and a “hot rabbi” named Noah (Adam Brody). The show was loosely inspired by Foster’s real-life romance with husband Simon Tikhman. (Foster, 42, had converted to Judaism ahead of their wedding. They welcomed daughter Noa in May 2024.)
Nobody Wants This was honored with three nominations at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards, which will be held on Sunday, January 5. The cast, which also stars Timothy Simons and Jackie Tohn, will later reunite for a recently renewed second season.
“I’m just excited for whatever the writers bring my way,” Lupe teased to Us on Friday. “They’re so good, they’re so talented. Jenni and Bruce are new to the show, and I just respect their work so much that I’m really looking forward to being surprised.”
