Minnie Driver Shares Valentine’s Tribute to Boyfriend Addison O’Dea

Minnie Driver kicked off her Valentine’s Day festivities a bit early this year with a lovely tribute to her partner Addison O’Dea.

“Don’t know how we possibly found each other, but I’ll never stop being grateful for that magic,” Driver, 55, wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, February 13.

The Oscar-nominated actress shared her sweet message alongside photos of herself arm-in-arm with O’Dea, including one from the 2024 Academy Awards where she was decked out in a shimmering golden Jacira gown.

Driver and her boyfriend have been together since 2019, having stepped out as a couple for the first time at that year’s Emmy Awards afterparty at the historic Chateau Marmont.

On the couple’s anniversary in November 2023, O’Dea credited Driver with changing his whole life for the better since he hadn’t “worn shoes in years” before meeting her.

“We go on adventures together, we share a brilliant rascal, have a demented dog, and I still wear flip flops to most everything,” O’Dea wrote via Instagram. “Because this is, as I have discovered, true love: I don’t ever want her to be ‘more like me’ and she does not expect me to be ‘more like her’ — all we expect is for each other to be themselves and show love, grace, respect, and patience.”

Driver was involved in multiple high-profile romantic relationships earlier in her career, including dating Harrison Ford in 2001 and her Good Will Hunting costar Matt Damon between 1997 and 1998.

Driver became embroiled in a public spat with Damon after he announced he was single during a 1998 talk show appearance alongside Good Will Hunting costars Ben Affleck and Robin Williams.

“It’s unfortunate that Matt went on [the show]. It seemed like a good forum for him to announce to the world that we were no longer together, which I found fantastically inappropriate,” she told the Los Angeles Times in July 1998. “Of course, he was busy declaring his love for me on David Letterman a month previously.”

Decades later, Driver revealed on the “Keep It” podcast in September 2021 that she’d recently run into Damon for the first time since their split.

“I did see Matt Damon on the beach and I had not had a conversation with him, seriously, since we made the film. That was last summer, and it was actually very nice to see him, and his kids, and his wife and it all felt quite middle-aged actually, which was reassuring,” Driver recalled. “I feel like so much of the folly of youth went on with our initial relationship, like it was amazing and tabloidy. So that was nice to just have sort of a middle-aged conversation about the weather and stuff.”

More recently, Driver opened up about her engagement to Josh Brolin following a brief courtship in 2001. Driver confessed to The Times in July 2024 that calling off her engagement to Brolin was a crucial decision in her life.

“The one time I was engaged, it would have been, I think, the biggest mistake of my life,” she conceded. “But now I’m with someone [O’Dea] who doesn’t want to get married but who is the most devoted, loving, extraordinary … Everything I could have wanted in my childhood idea of a husband, he actually is.”

Driver has a 16-year-old son, Henry, from a previous relationship but has chosen to keep the identity of her son’s father private.
