Eleven Madison Park Enters The Meal Kit Space With An Upscale Plant-Based Offering
Eleven Madison Park, a fine dining restaurant with three Michelin stars that was named the World’s Best Restaurant in 2017, is bringing a luxurious twist to the meal kit space with Eleven Madison Home.
The launch of a plant-based meal delivery service comes almost a year after Eleven Madison Park reopened as a plant-based restaurant, and chef Daniel Humm’s commitment to a plant-based future is stronger than ever. With Eleven Madison Home, he hopes to help people incorporate more plant-based foods into their diet without it feeling like a sacrifice. “To adjust our habits isn’t easy,” he said. “That’s especially true when it comes to food. But it can happen one day at a time, and does not need to feel like a sacrifice. Eleven Madison Home is designed to make the adjustment as easy, and as delicious, as possible.” The project has been in the works for almost a year, and Humm notes that this is just the beginning.
Eleven Madison Home also offers people a taste of the Eleven Madison Park dining experience without having to leave home (or spend hundreds of dollars). “Almost every night, when I greet guests in the dining room at Eleven Madison Park, I hear them say, ‘If I could eat this way, I would eat plant-based all the time,’” Humm said. “At first, I just took this as lovely encouragement of the change we’ve made to our approach—until it dawned on me that there was something there for us to explore. Could we do more to bring that happiness to people outside the restaurant? Without preaching about it, could we do more to encourage people to fall in love with a plant-based lifestyle? It’s only so often you can dine at Eleven Madison Park, yet there are so many euphoric flavors that we can easily adapt for at-home; so many local farmers, purveyors and stories that we can honor.”
Inside each Eleven Madison Home box, delivered weekly, is a full day of plant-based meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, dessert) that require minimal prep, plus some pantry favorites curated by Eleven Madison Park chefs. The menu changes weekly, which shows how delicious and varied plant-based food can be, and for each box purchased a plant-based meal is distributed to someone experiencing food insecurity via Eleven Madison Park’s partnership with Rethink Food. Boxes retail for $150 ($285 for a box that serves two), which includes shipping, and at launch the delivery zone includes Manhattan area codes. Humm notes that they plan to expand to the outer boroughs in the near future and hope to continue to expand from there.
For breakfast, you may find something like whole grain oatmeal with rhubarb compote and roasted pecan butter, and for lunch a celery root salad sandwich with matbucha, pea greens and housemade focaccia. Israeli couscous with roasted carrots and mushroom kebab is a sample dinner meal, which you could follow up with snickerdoodle cookies, baked fresh at home. Meatless Mondays have never been easier—or fancier.
