Telemundo’s Adan Manzano Dead at 27 While Covering 2025 Super Bowl

After traveling to New Orleans to cover Super Bowl LIX, Telemundo Kansas City reporter Adan Manzano has died. He was 27.

“We are sorry to share that Adan Manzano, reporter and sports anchor for Telemundo Kansas City passed away yesterday in New Orleans while on assignment to cover the Super Bowl for Telemundo KC and Tico Sports,” a translated Thursday, February 6, statement shared via the outlet’s Facebook page read. “We are cooperating with authorities as they investigate this tragic event. Adam was an exceptional professional and a rising star whose dedication and talent reflected excellence in his work.”

The statement continued, “We will deeply miss Adam, his passion for sports and the contributions he made to the local community. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family and loved ones at this difficult time.”

A cause of death has not yet been confirmed.

Manzano worked as a Sports Anchor and Reporter for Telemundo Kansas City KGKC-TV, a position he held since April 2021. He previously covered various sports for outlets in Kansas City, Oklahoma and Mexico, respectively.

Manzano traveled to New Orleans earlier this week to cover the 2025 NFL championship between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. (The game takes place on Sunday, February 9.)

“We’ve arrived in New Orleans to kick off our Super Bowl LIX coverage! 🎤 🏈,” he wrote in a joint Instagram post with Telemundo Kansas City on Sunday, February 2. “We are ready to bring you all the excitement, interviews, reactions and more, so you don’t miss the best of this great event, by Telemundo Kansas City, channel 39. And channel 36 on Columbia and Jefferson City.”

One day later, Manzano was present at opening night.

“Opening Night” officially kicks off Super Bowl LIX week! 🌟,” a Monday, February 3, post on his Instagram read. “The teams, the excitement and all the stories surrounding this big event as Chiefs’ quest for the coveted tri-championship start here. Don’t miss any details of this great event by Telemundo Kansas City!”

Manzano previously covered the 2023 and 2024 Super Bowl games, both of which the Chiefs won.

“After quite an eventful two weeks, we can finally conclude the 2023 season,” he wrote via Instagram in February 2024. “Not with the happy ending expected, but grateful to cover for the third season the Chiefs, a ‘Back to Back’ to the Superbowl and by the way, first see my #FinsUp 🏈🔥. Thank God, to my bosses for trusting this reporter on the court, and, as always, to my family and friends.”
