Ellen DeGeneres Says Her House in the U.K. Did Not Flood After Rumors
Ellen DeGeneres is reflecting on a major milestone with her wife, Portia de Rossi, days after news broke that the couple relocated to England.
“20 years ago today we began this relationship not realizing what a long beautiful adventure this would be. You are the best thing that ever happened in my life. You take care of me. You help me see the good in everything,” DeGeneres, 66, wrote via Instagram on Sunday, December 1. “You help to guide me and pick me up when I feel off or down. You are a beautiful soul that I am so very grateful to have as a partner to navigate this crazy life with.”
Alongside the message, DeGeneres shared a sweet selfie where she posed with de Rossi, 51, in front of a green countryside.
“My wife. My best friend. The love of my life. Thank you for being you and loving me,” she continued. “So happy we get to travel and explore the world together in the next 20 years, and looking forward to our first snowy Christmas.”
She ended the note with: “P.S. for those of you concerned, our U.K. farmhouse did NOT flood.”
Days prior to the anniversary post, several outlets reported that DeGeneres and de Rossi’s home in the U.K. had flooded.
TMZ reported last month that DeGeneres and de Rossi moved out of their Montecito, California, residence and relocated to the English countryside in the Cotswolds. The pair, who tied the knot in 2008, are planning to sell their California home.
Per an eyewitness, DeGeneres was spotted at the U.K. hotspot Soho Farmhouse last month. (The luxurious member’s club and hotel in The Cotswolds is known to be frequented by celebs including David and Victoria Beckham, Sharon Osbourne and Simon Cowell.)
“She was with two female friends walking from the car park towards the farm buildings where the clubhouse is — we passed on a stone bridge over a stream,” the fellow guest exclusively told Us. “She was dressed in a country casual way. She was super understated and no one was really paying much attention to her … but then you just don’t expect to see Ellen there as it’s more a haunt of U.K. celebrities.”
The insider thought DeGeneres was a lookalike for the comedian before hearing her speak. Another local told Us that DeGeneres is “definitely a lot less well-known” in the U.K. but “she’s still famous,” adding, “People know who she is but the thing about the Cotswolds is no one gives a f— if you’re Kate Moss or the farmer’s wife.”
