Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Proposes New $50 Million Bail Package
Sean “Diddy” Combs and his legal team are proposing a new $50 million bail package as he awaits trial on sex trafficking and racketeering charges.
According to the Associated Press, Diddy, 54, filed a new request on Friday, November 8, claiming that because of changed circumstances and new evidence, he should be allowed to prepare for his May 2025 trial from outside of Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, where he has been behind bars since his September arrest. The new filing serves as his fourth request. He has been denied bail multiple times.
In the filing, Diddy’s lawyers proposed a “far more robust” bail package, complete with around-the-clock security monitoring, home detention and restrictions on his ability to contact anyone, save for his legal team.
He would also not have access to the internet or phone, and asked for a pre-approved visitor list of select family members. Additionally, the filing said Diddy would surrender passports belonging to him and his family members, per USA Today.
Diddy’s legal team also cited new evidence that “makes clear that the government’s case is thin” against the rapper. According to his lawyers, that evidence refutes the government’s claims that a 2016 video of Diddy assaulting then-girlfriend Cassie occurred during a “Freak Off,” where Diddy allegedly coerced female victims to participate in “elaborate and produced sex performances.”
Us Weekly has reached out to Diddy’s team for comment.
Diddy was arrested and charged with sex trafficking and racketeering in September and has remained behind bars since. His legal troubles began in November 2023 when Cassie, 38, accused him of sexual assault and rape in a bombshell lawsuit. He denied her claims and the case was settled out of court one day after it was filed.
In the wake of the case, several individuals came forward with sexual assault lawsuits of their own against the rapper, eventually leading Homeland Security to raid Diddy’s homes in Miami and Los Angeles in connection to a sex trafficking investigation.
Diddy’s 14-page indictment was unsealed one day after his September 16 arrest in New York City. The court docs accuse the disgraced music mogul of hosting parties known as “Freak Offs,” which he is said to have recorded. Diddy allegedly “distributed a variety of controlled substances to victims” as a control tactic.
Diddy and his lawyers have vehemently denied the multiple accusations against him. The rapper pleaded not guilty to his sex trafficking and racketeering charges.
