F1 Driver Carlos Sainz Jr.’s Dating History

Formula 1 driver Carlos Sainz Jr. likes to keep his eyes on the road ahead when it comes to his love life.

Sainz Jr. hit the F1 scene in 2010 as part of the Red Bull junior team. Five years later, he joined Toro Rosso where he competed until 2017. In his final year with the constructor, he was linked to ex Isa Hernáez.

Hernáez was by his side as he later joined Renault, McLaren and Ferrari. However, the pair’s relationship status raised eyebrows after Sainz Jr. seemingly hinted they broke up in 2023.

“When I’m at home I take time to spend with my family, my dog, my girlfriend, if I have one,” Sainz Jr. said in Spanish while at the Spanish Grand Prix in May 2023.

Hernáez later confirmed their breakup. Shortly after their split, the Spanish driver was linked to current girlfriend Rebecca Donaldson.

Isa Hernáez

While Hernáez and Sainz Jr. secretly began dating in 2017, they made things official the following year when she was spotted in the F1 Paddock Club. Hernáez continued to cheer on Sainz Jr. low-key and gush about him via social media until 2023.

In June 2023, HOLA! Magazine confirmed Hernáez and Sainz Jr. called it quits after seven years of dating. That same month of their split, Sainz Jr.’s sister Blanca was getting married and Hernáez told the outlet that she didn’t want news of her and the racer’s separation to take away from the bride’s special day.

“She is Carlos’s sister and she is a friend of mine, and she deserves all the attention this week,” Hernáez said.

After their breakup became public, Hernáez seemingly shaded her ex in an October 2023 TikTok. “This is a song I wrote about men, it is called ‘Ew,’” she lip-synced for the camera and danced with two friends. “You’re disgusting.”

One year later, Hernáez moved on with businessman Santiago Isla.

Rebecca Donaldson

Shortly after his breakup from Hernáez, Sainz Jr. moved on with Donaldson. The pair were first linked in summer 2023. Despite being photographed together on multiple occasions and the model being spotted at his races, Donaldson and Sainz Jr. have not publicly addressed their relationship status.

However, F1 fans believe Sainz Jr. was referring to Donaldson during a 2023 interview with fellow F1 driver Charles Leclerc. When asked who he would want to have a “quickie marriage” with while in Las Vegas.

“Whatever I say … It’s a trick question. My current girlfriend, I don’t know,” he joked.
