Would-be thief’s illegible note to Colorado bank teller mars robbery attempt
A Colorado man is wanted for allegedly attempting to hold up a bank in a robbery that quickly went off the rails when the teller couldn’t read the note he handed over.
The accused would be-thief entered a bank in Loveland, Colo. around 5 p.m. on Dec. 17 and went straight to the teller, who he handed a note, according to the Loveland Police Department.
But the teller couldn’t discern what exactly was written on the note since it was nearly impossible to read, according to CBS Colorado.
As the teller was still trying to figure out what the note said, the man grew frustrated and quickly fled the bank, police said.
The suspect was wearing a brown hoodie, a green baseball cap and sunglasses. The LPD are still searching for him. His face was not covered during the incident.
Brainless criminal wannabes are more common than expected, with many people accidentally damning themselves in the most unexpected ways.
In a similar incident, a British man who tried to rob a bank in East Sussex in 2021 was foiled by his sloppy sticky note that he slipped to the teller. The note appears to read “Your screen won’t stop what I’ve got just hand over the 10s and 20s think about the customer’s,” which is not only grammatically incorrect but also just plain unintelligible.
One note that was easy to read was a diary entry that a Minnesota woman penned admitting to stealing a car in August. Officers uncovered her diary during the investigation, but she continued to deny knowing about any stolen vehicles.
More recently, a thief in Virginia attempted to rob a Walmart while the store was crawling with police on site for a “Shop with a Cop” December charity event.
