Pair of teens caught with gun inside Brooklyn school
A pair of 16-year-olds were busted for bringing a gun into a Brooklyn school Thursday — as student violence explodes across the Big Apple.
The boy and girl duo were caught passing the weapon while sitting inside a classroom in Metropolitan Diploma Plus High School at 985 Rockaway Avenue around 12:45 p.m. in Brownsville, according to sources and authorities.
Police said the boy took the gun out of a backpack and handed it to the girl.
Sources said cops converged to the school after receiving a tip about a student with a gun in a backpack.
The high school was placed on lockdown as cops searched for the weapon, sources said.
Both kids were arrested at the school, which does not have a metal detector, according to authorities.
The disturbing incident is the latest among a troubling trend of youth violence involving guns at city schools.
On Wednesday, two 17-year-olds were struck by bullets outside Isaac Bildersee Junior High School in Canarsie around 3:15 p.m, police said.
A day earlier, a 15-year-old student was blasted in the leg in front of his Canarsie high school, less than a mile away from Wednesday’s shooting.
Last week, a 17-year-old was shot near his Staten Island High School — less than 30 minutes after a pair of teens were separately busted with guns inside a Flushing high school.
