NY drug peddler had enough fentanyl in home ‘to kill every man, woman and child on Long Island’: DA

A Suffolk County drug peddler was just busted with enough fentanyl in his home to kill everyone on Long Island, prosecutors said Friday.

Remon Gibson, 43, of Bellport was arrested Sept. 25, the same day law enforcement discovered 33 pounds of illegal drugs at his house — including a large amount of fentanyl left on a nightstand in a room next to the bedroom of two kids, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.

Seven kilograms in all of fentanyl was discovered at the home, while more than 8 kilograms of cocaine was found — including some squirreled away in a hidden trap behind a shed in the backyard, the DA’s office said.

“The amount of deadly narcotics seized in this operation is staggering,” District Attorney Raymond Tierney said in a statement.

“There was enough Fentanyl here to kill every man, woman and child on Long Island.”

When investigators searched Gibson’s 5 Sunburst Lane home, they also found $80,000 in cash, half a kilogram of a sedative called zylazine, drug paraphernalia, a drug ledger, a kilo presser and plates for bricks of fentanyl and cocaine embossed with “COVID-19,” prosecutors alleged.

Gibson pleaded not guilty at a Wednesday arraignment in Suffolk County Supreme Court to charges of operating as a major trafficker, criminal possession of a controlled substance, endangering the welfare of a child and criminally using drug paraphernalia.

Suffolk County Supreme Court Justice Richard Ambro ordered Gibson held on $200,000 cash bail, $800,000 bond or a $2 million partially secured bond. He posted bail, according to the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office.

Gibson is due back in court Nov. 8.

Gibson was previously convicted of criminal possession of a controlled substance and served a three-and-a-half-year sentence starting in 2020, state prison records show.

His lawyer did not immediately return a Post request for comment Friday morning.
