Horrifying drone shots show wildfire-ravaged Los Angeles looking like a warzone
Horrifying aerial footage captured huge areas of wildfire-ravaged Los Angeles looking like a charred warzone.
The drone footage taken Wednesday panned over a completely abandoned neighborhood of crumbled homes and structures coated in char and dark, smokey dust from the fires, which have left at least five dead and more than 130,000 under evacuation orders.
Entire blocks were shown burnt to a crisp from the blazes — which erupted in the ritzy Pacific Palisades neighborhood Tuesday morning and have already damaged thousands of buildings.
Bare frames of homes and yards littered with scorched debris could be made out as the video panned over a destroyed neighborhood that featured small patches of fires remaining.
Drone footage also captured thick plumes of gray smoke filling the orange-tinted air.
Officials warned worsening winds could add fuel to the five fires, three of which were completely un-contained Thursday and had already burned nearly 30,000 acres in Los Angeles County.
Terrifying Santa Ana wind gusts topping 100 miles per hour have caused several fires to grow from non-existent to out-of-control, causing mass destruction across the region. At least five people are dead, and thousands of structures have been destroyed.
Vice President Kamala Harris called herself “a proud daughter of California” as she urged residents in affected areas to evacuate if told to do so.
Some 130,000 Californians have been under evacuation orders from the multiple major fires, which include the Palisades Fire west of Los Angeles, the Eaton Fire north of Pasadena and the Sunset Fire in the Hollywood Hills.
Wildfires rippling through the ritzy Pacific Palisades neighborhood have also forced many Hollywood stars to evacuate their homes.
Meanwhile, over 360,000 people were without power Thursday morning as Gov. Gavin Newsom deployed over 600 National Guard members to the region to help.
