Homan says it’s ‘responsible’ to ask feds to probe AOC for giving migrants tips to dodge law

Border czar Tom Homan on Sunday insisted he was right to ask the feds if lefty New York City Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez “crossed the line’’ by providing migrants with tips to dodge the law.

Ocasio-Cortez’s office last week hosted a webinar featuring a “Know Your Rights in Case of ICE” guide that encourages migrants not to open their doors to the feds if officers don’t produce a warrant.

Homan has said he wants clarity from the Justice Department on whether she was “crossing the line” with the event.

“I’m suggesting that I would ask the Department of Justice, where’s that line on [law-enforcement] impediment, right?” Homan, 63, told CNN’s “State of the Union.” “That’s a broad statute.

“You can call it ‘know your rights’ all you want,” he said of the webinar, which aired on the congresswoman’s Facebook page. “I think it’s more about how they evade law enforcement not to get arrested, even though there’s a federal warrant for your arrest, how they evade that, rather than ‘know your rights.’ “

Ocasio-Cortez, 35, did not participate in the webinar.

Homan revealed Friday to Fox News host Laura Ingraham that he had sent an email to the deputy attorney general about Ocasio-Cortez’s office promoting the event.

“Is that impeding our law-enforcement efforts? If so, what are we going to do about it?” Homan told Igraham last week. “Maybe AOC is going to be in trouble now. … Impediment is impediment, in my opinion.”

During the webinar, an expert from the Immigrant Defense Project claimed that her team has “very, very, rarely” seen instances in which US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents actually had judicial warrants.

The expert further alleged that ICE officers usually lean on “ruses or intimidation to try to trick people into doing or saying things that they can interpret as consent to enter [a private space].”

The guide advised migrants to “remain silent” during questioning.

Homan underscored to CNN that if the feds had “access to the man who murdered Laken Riley in New York, he would never made it to Georgia to kill a woman,” referring to alleged Tren de Aragua gangbanger Jose Ibarra. The killer had been busted in the Big Apple for allegedly endangering a child in 2023 but let go thanks to New York’s alleged lax laws and went on to murder Riley.

The White House border czar stressed that he was not accusing Ocasio-Cortez of flouting the law but said he wanted to know where the line is.

“Now, I’m not saying that’s illegal,” Homan said of the webinar.”What I’m saying is, I asked the attorney general, at what point is it impeding, and [at] what point is it not impeding?”

CNN moderator Dana Bash took note of Ocasio-Cortez’s defense that the webinar was meant to “remind people the law of the land passed by congressional statute.”

“I have done this since 1984,” Homan shot back. “I forgot more about the immigration law [than] AOC will ever know.

“I think it’s a responsible thing to do as the border czar of the United States to make sure the men and women ICE understand what they can and can’t do,” he said.

AOC previously mocked Homan’s outreach to the DOJ over her webinar.

Ocasio-Cortez’s office did not respond to a Post request for comment.
