Heartless scammers use pictures of 9-year-old boy battling brain cancer on phony TikTok accounts to raise money: ‘Disheartening’

The family of a 9-year-old boy who’s fighting brain cancer is now enduring a different kind of nightmare – scammers who are exploiting his tragic situation to raise cash for themselves.
Twisted imposters have been using photos of Julian Galloway on fake TikTok and other social media accounts to earn money from well-intentioned donors through PayPal, ABC13 reported.
The Texas family, who has shared Julian’s brave cancer journey on Facebook, learned about the ghoulish scheme in May.
“It’s very disheartening. People out there will do anything to make a quick buck,” the boy’s father Lee Galloway told The Post Monday.
Julian was diagnosed with medulloblastoma in December 2019. The boy was given six months to a year to live two years ago, but defied all odds and is still fighting the good fight today, ABC13 said.
The family went to great lengths to report the fake accounts, trying to navigate through the app and its help center to take their posts down, but it was difficult for the family to even prove that “anybody had been victimized,” Galloway told the Independent.
While the family has seen a decrease in scammers as they started to speak up about the situation, Galloway still finds new accounts with even more up-to-date information, including pictures that they specifically sent of Julian to nonprofits or pictures that Galloway just posted to the Facebook page as quickly as a couple minutes ago.
Last February, Julian was sworn in as an honorary NYPD detective and will be receiving an inspiration award at the Blue Lives Matter NYC Archangel Gala in March.
Julian now has an official TikTok page, @teamjulianofficial, and continues to fight cancer — and the scammers.
“I still want his story out there. He’s been battling for five years and is still defying odds,” Galloway said.
