UK snow maps show 500-mile barrage hitting 19 cities in England and Scotland

UK weather maps revealed a blast of snow set to hit various cities across the nation spanning approximately 500 miles.

The weather maps from WXCharts for Monday 17 February show snow falling as far south as the Midlands, as far north as the Scottish Highlands with depths ranging between 1cm and 5cm.

Maps highlighted a significant amount of the country in purple and white, depicting the areas that will see a barrage of snow.

Whilst the south is expected to catch a lucky escape from the icy front, according to WXCharts, cities in the Midlands, North England and the Scottish Highlands will all see blankets of snow hit their cities by midnight on Monday.

In total, 19 major cities will see snow.

At present the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued two yellow cold health alerts for the North East and Yorkshire and HUmber. The yellow alerts are in place from Friday February 14, 9pm until Tuesday February 18, 9am.

The hill snow and icy paths are expected to have “minor impacts” on health and social care services including an increased usee of healthcare services by vulnerable people and a greater risk to life of vulnerable people.

The Met Office have issued no weather warnings. However, it does warn of cold weather conditions expected to meet Brits across the nation in its 5-day weather forecast.
