The 12 new UK train stations opening in 2025 – from Yorkshire to Cardiff
Several new train stations are set to open in the UK in 2025 as part of efforts to enhance rail connectivity and restore services to areas underserved by public transport.
These developments align with broader rail enhancement projects across the country, including accessibility improvements, line upgrades, and station modernisations.
One of them is the Moseley Village train station. The station is a part of the long-anticipated Camp Hill Line redevelopment in Birmingham, which also includes Kings Heath and Pineapple Road stations.
These stations were earlier set to open in December 2024. However, the project has been delayed again and the new stations in Willenhall and Darlaston, due for completion in early 2025, will also be delayed until later next year or early 2026, reports Birmingham Live.
The Moseley Village station will be located near its historic counterpart between Woodbridge Road and St. Mary’s Row. It will feature modern amenities such as stair and lift access, secure bicycle storage, and passenger help points.
Another much awaited train station is Butetown railway station in Cardiff. The construction of the new Butetown railway station in is part of the South Wales Metro’s ambitious Bay Line transformation project.
Located north of Butetown, the new two-platform station is designed to modernize transport infrastructure in the area. Alongside this, Cardiff Bay station is undergoing significant upgrades, including new signage and improved customer information systems.
Plans to build the two platform station, which will be located to the north of Cardiff Bay station along Lloyd George Avenue, were confirmed in 2022. Services are expected to start operating at the site in 2025 or 2026, reports Wales Online.
