Seven arrested after teen stabbed to death in middle of street
Seven people, including a schoolgirl, have been arrested after a murder probe launched into the death of a teenager.
An 18-year-old man has tragically died after he was stabbed in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, just days after Christmas.
The emergency services rushed to Rose Avenue at about 8.20pm yesterday after reports of a stabbing.
They discovered the young man on the road with a stab wound.
Despite their best efforts, paramedics were unable to revive him and he was pronounced dead on nearby Heanor Road.
His family have been made aware and they are being assisted by specially trained officers, Derbyshire Police said.
Now a murder investigation has been launched following his death.
Four 17-year-old boys have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
A 15-year-old girl, a 16-year-old-girl and a 52-year-old man have all been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Detective Chief Inspector Claudia Musson from the East Midlands Special Operation Unit, who is leading the investigation said: ‘We are in the very early stages of the investigation and we are treating it as an isolated incident.
‘We are keen for anyone with information to contact us as a matter of urgency to assist with the inquiry into the death of this young man.’
The force has appealed for any CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage taken between 7pm and 9pm around Heanor Road, Rose Avenue, Summerfields Way, Kedleston Drive and Peveril Drive.
