Murder probe after man dies at block of flats as police arrest 52-year-old
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a 65 year old man at a block of flats in Walton. The incident occurred on Spellow Lane around 6.10pm on Tuesday, November 26, with police and paramedics responding to reports of concern for safety.
Initially, Merseyside Police reported that the victim was taken to hospital but later confirmed that despite emergency treatment and CPR at the scene, the man tragically died. A 52 year old man from Toxteth was arrested nearby and is currently being held at a police station for questioning by detectives.
The death is currently being treated as unexplained and an investigation is underway. Forensic officers have arrived at the scene, which is near Goodison Park, and a cordon remains in place.
Detectives are also conducting house-to-house inquiries and reviewing local CCTV footage as part of their investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector Alyson Keenan has urged the public to come forward with any information that could aid an ongoing investigation, stating: “The investigation is in its early stages and we are appealing to anyone who may have information which could assist us to come forward.
