Mum lives every parent’s worst nightmare after intruder ‘tries to snatch baby’

A mum has described feeling like she was in a ‘horror movie’ after a stranger broke into her home and tried to snatch her baby.
Mary McCann popped outside for a cigarette when a woman crept into her home in Poole, Dorset, last Friday, February 7.
While inside, the intruder unclipped her son from his buggy and reportedly tried to slip out of the back door with him.
Mary was only alerted by a relative who spotted the woman and asked if she knew her.
Speaking to the Bournemouth Echo, she said: ‘When someone has your baby in her arms, and you don’t know what she’s going to do, it feels like something out of a horror movie.’
Her family has been left shaken by the incident, Mary said, adding that her daughter now constantly checks on her baby brother.
Dorset Police said they received a report shortly before 3pm on February 7 that a woman had entered a home in Poole and taken hold of a child.
A police spokesperson said: ‘The child was not taken from the address and did not sustain any injuries during the incident.
‘Officers attended, and a woman aged in her 30s was arrested in connection with the incident.’
The woman has since been released on bail and has been taken to a mental health facility to receive appropriate medical care at a mental health facility.
Police said enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
