Manhunt launched as shots fired from car injure three women
Police have launched an urgent manhunt after three women were injured after shots were fired from a car.
Emergency services were called after shots were fired from a car on Frederick Street, Wolverhampton at around 11pm on Friday.
The three women were taken to hospital and West Midlands Police confirmed on Saturday afternoon that two of them had since been discharged.
The third woman remains in hospital in a stable condition.
A police spokesperson said officers are currently trawling CCTV as an investigation to find those responsible continues.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “We’re working to establish why this happened and we’d ask anyone with information to speak to us. Such violence is unacceptable and won’t be tolerated.
“We will have an increased presence in the area to reassure the local community.
“You can contact us via Live Chat on our website, or by calling 101, and quote log 5427 of 27 September.
“Alternatively, ring independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Tell them what you know, not who you are.”
The shooting took place on the same day as Britain’s youngest knife murderers, who killed a stranger in a brutal machete attack in the West Midlands city when they were aged just 12, were handed life sentences with a minimum term of eight-and-a-half years.
The killers, both from Wolverhampton, were convicted in June of murdering 19-year-old Shawn Seesahai, who was stabbed in the heart and suffered a skull fracture on the city’s Stowlawn playing fields on November 13 last year.
