London Tubes hit by severe delays with one line completely suspended

Five London Underground lines as well as the Overground are experiencing delays, suspensions and reduced services.

Just in time for the Friday morning commute, of course. There’s no service at all on the Circle line as engineers tinker with a signal failure at Whitechapel. Key commuter lines the District and Hammersmith & City line are seeing severe delays – True Tube Status, a motoring app, says journeys on both lines are about 34% longer than normal.

Minor delays, meanwhile, are riddling the Bakerloo and Central Lines.

The Overground is held up between Willesden Junction and Clapham Junction due to a faulty track on top of reduced service by Barkignside earlier this morning.

There are minor delays on the Metropolitan line ‘between Moor Park and Watford due to train cancellations’, but TfL says the cancellations have since eased up. Monitoring services, however, say journeys will still be longer.

Two more London Underground lines are delayed

TfL has just issued status updates for the Central and Bakerloo lines:

‘Central line: Minor delays between Leytonstone and White City westbound due to a points failure at Leytonstone.

‘Bakerloo line: Minor delays due to a shortage of trains.’

Severe delays on the M25

A string of ‘unconfirmed roadworks’ are taking place on the M25 today, according to Traffic England, causing severe delays.

This is mainly impacting journeys on the motorway anticlockwise between junctions J10 and J9 and anticlockwise between junctions J25 and J23.

…And maybe get used to it. Officials warn to expect long trips around J10 and J9 until ‘11.59pm on May 31, 2025’ and between J25 and J23 until ‘5am on March 31, 2025’.

Traffic Scotland reveals major road closure

The agency says the A92 Tay Road Bridge, which connects Dubdee with Newport-on-Tay, is closed southbound due to a police incident.

‘Expect delays,’ Traffic Scotland adds.

Are there Tube delays today?

The short answer is yes.

The Circle line is fully down because of a signal failure in Whitechapel.

Two separate signal failures are also behind severe delays and part suspensions riddling the District and Hammersmith and City lines, between West Ham and Embankment and Liverpool Street and Barking respectively.

Speaking of severe delays, the Overground is clogged up between Willesden Junction and Clapham Junction due to a faulty rail at Kensington Olympia.

While there’s good service on the rest of the lines, True Tube Status, a monitoring service, says that users are reporting minor delays on the Central, Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines of roughly 20%.
