Literal cat burglar becomes local celebrity after embarking on crime spree

A cat burglar – in the most literal sense – has become a local sensation after carrying out an audacious crime spree.

Disco, a 10-year-old half ragdoll who lives in Hellesdon, Norwich, is somehow managing to sneak into a neighbour’s home – probably through a cat flap – and make off with several cat food pouches.

His owner Kat Steele found a significant stash of them while gardening earlier this week and shared a picture of the hoard as well as the cute culprit on a local Facebook group.

She told the BBC: ‘It’s created a lot of interest – cheered a lot of people up and he’s becoming a bit of a local celebrity now.’

Disco, who gets two portions of dry food a day from Kat, has managed to claw through some of the packets to get to the wet food inside.

‘He has been doing it for a while because I’d found the odd one here and there,’ said Kat, who shares her home with her partner, five-year-old child and another cat.

So far no one has come forward to say they are missing pouches so their origin remains a mystery.

Kat said she asked her next door neighbour, as they have cats, but the brand they use is not the same as what she found.

This isn’t first time Disco’s been caught stealing. The sneaky feline went missing five years ago and was only found when a neighbour noticed food going missing, including frozen sausages left out to thaw.

And if the present crime spree carries on he might need putting on a bit of a diet as, Kat concedes, he’s starting to look a little ‘chunkier’.
