iPhone users think they’ve found the real Siri – but there’s a snag

Members of the public who thought they found the “real voice” of Siri are mistaken – but she revealed her role in another tech giant.

Revealing where you may have heard her voice before, TikTok user @kdimerc, says she is not the voice of the popular virtual assistant.

But she is a voice you may have heard in your earphones before. She further revealed her voice was often mistaken for the voice heard on several tablet devices.

Clarifying she was not the voice of Siri in a now viral post to TikTok, the voice actor says she does provide the connectivity voice lines for Bluetooth products.

Taking to the social media platform, she joked she was “not all of these things,” but some guesses had been correct.

She said: “Hello, it’s me, the voice actress behind some of your Bluetooth devices but also, oh my gosh, I am not all of these things you guys think I’m everybody.

“Let’s clear it up. A ton of you think that I’m Siri. I’m verry flattered, I would have loved to be Siri, but Siri was recorded in like, 2005, I was 12. So the real voice of Siri is a woman named Susan Bennett.” She then revealed the Scansoft origins of the iconic voice, with Susan not paid any residuals for the use of her work under Apple’s new project.

The TikTok sensation also revealed people thought she was the voice of Google Home and Nest products, but denied being behind “one of the most recognisable voices” in tech.

The third mistake made by fans of the voice actor was assuming she voiced Alexa, but again it turned out this was a case of mistaken voices. Fans are thrilled to realise the Bluetooth voice is on TikTok, and flooded the comments in shock.

One stumped user wrote: “Always thought they were AI generated voices.” Another wrote their Alexa device had picked up on the TikTok and actually been activated by commands registered in the viral post. They shared: “You triggered my Alexa. She says she isn’t sure how to help you with the mansion thing.”

Other users who use Bluetooth devices constantly may have heard the voice before, as one user writes: “You’re the voice in my headphones.”
