Good Morning Britain’s Laura Tobin given dramatic health update by TV doctor

Good Morning Britain star Laura Tobin, has shared the dramatic story of how her co-star Dr Hilary Jones realised she was going into premature labour.

The TV personality gave birth to her first child, Charlotte, in 2017, but went into labour at just 27 weeks – and it was ITV’s Dr Hilary who recognised the signs and advised her to seek medical attention.

Recounting the ‘funny story’ on Laura Hamilton’s Mile Fly Club podcast, Laura revealed that she initially dismissed her stomach pains as Braxton Hicks, or false labour pains. However, they turned out to be the real deal.

She told the A Place in the Sun star: “I went to work and Charlotte Hawkins was like: ‘They’re just Braxton Hicks. I really wouldn’t worry about it.’

“But Debbie from wardrobe sensed something was amiss and called Dr Hilary, describing the situation. He responded: ‘It sounds like she’s going to have the baby.’

“I didn’t think I was having the baby, I just thought I was having Braxton Hicks. I was really chilled,” reports Wales Online.

She also revealed that Dr Hilary, who had premature twins at 27 weeks himself, was convinced she was about to give birth.

He persuaded the weather presenter to get checked at St Thomas’s Hospital, a stone’s throw away from the Good Morning Britain studios in central London. Laura was under the impression she would soon be back to present her weather segment – but her colleagues knew better.

She recalled: “Everyone kept me really calm, they didn’t want to stress me out. It wasn’t busy, I think I might have been the only person in the ward.

“They (her colleagues) all knew the baby was about to come. The midwife came in and said: ‘These babies decide when they want to come, and yours wants to come today.’

“It didn’t freak me out. Then Charlotte was born that afternoon.”

Laura has been been married to Dean Brown since 2010. She also opened up on the Mile Fly podcast about how she and her husband parent differently due to their daughter’s premature birth.
