Three Browns who could have biggest impact vs. Eagles in Week 6

The Cleveland Browns (1-4) travel to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles (2-2) in Week 6 as they look to finally bring their three-game losing streak to an end.

Here are three Browns players who could impact the game the most:

Quarterback Deshaun Watson

Watson always impacts the outcome of games, but more times than not, it’s in a negative way.

Since joining Cleveland in 2022, Watson has thrown for 3,069 yards, 19 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 17 games. Last week, he also became the only quarterback this season to have multiple games with a single-digit QBR.

While many would argue that type of production should result in being benched, head coach Kevin Stefanski disagrees.

“We’re not changing quarterbacks,” Stefanski said via Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN. “We need to play better. I need to coach better.”

Clearly, the Browns are not ready to admit that their decision to trade a king’s ransom for Watson and then sign him to a five-year, $230M fully guaranteed contract was a terrible idea.

Watson will likely continue to support that case this week, too.

Wide receiver Amari Cooper

Cooper has been quiet to start the year, registering just 20 catches for 208 yards and two touchdowns.

The five-time Pro Bowler has also yet to record a 100-yard game, but that could change this week against the Eagles, who are allowing the ninth-most passing yards per game (237) in the league.

Given Cleveland’s bad start to the season, Cooper has been subject to trade talks, too. He’s frustrated with his lack of production, but he’s not thinking about that right now.

“I mean, it’s the easiest thing in the world to do, to jump off the ship when it’s sinking, I guess I would say,” Cooper said, via Kevin Patra of NFL.com. “I don’t even consider myself that type of person — that’s what people who aren’t dedicated to, that’s what people who aren’t committed to. Things get hard sometimes. You just have to fight your way through it. I’m a fighter. I know the guys on this team, they’re fighters and that’s what fighters do until the end, fight until the end. So that’s what we’re going to do.”

Still, a big game could raise his value as the Nov. 5 trade deadline nears. Maybe a fresh start is what’s best for both sides.

Edge rusher Myles Garrett

It looks like Philadelphia’s offense will have all its star playmakers back this week, as wide receivers A.J. Brown (hamstring) and DeVonta Smith (concussion) logged a couple of full practices.

That will make the Eagles offense, which is already averaging the eighth-most total yards per game (365.5), even more difficult to defend.

However, if there’s one player on the Browns who can wreck a game, it’s Garrett.

The reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year has been a bit disappointing with just nine tackles, four sacks and two forced fumbles on the year, but expect his best for what feels like a must-win game for Cleveland.
