Three Bengals who could have biggest impact vs. Giants in Week 6

The Cincinnati Bengals (1-4) are traveling to New York to take on the Giants (2-3) in Week 6. Neither team has likely had the start it imagined but one can turn its season around on “Sunday Night Football.”

Here are three Bengals who could impact the game the most.

Quarterback Joe Burrow

Burrow has been on fire as of late, throwing for 1,370 yards and a league-leading 12 touchdowns on the season.

A big reason for that is the Bengals’ lack of run game and struggling defense, but neither of those things are likely to change. So Burrow will probably have to put the team on his back once again this week.

The fifth-year signal-caller is coming off a 392-yard and five-touchdown performance against the Baltimore Ravens, but things should be a bit more difficult against the Giants, who are allowing only about 200 passing yards per game.

Still, Burrow is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL when fully healthy and he revealed he doesn’t even think he’s that yet after having surgery on his wrist this offseason.

“I would say I’m still not quite throwing it the way that I would like,” Burrow said via the team’s website. “I’m making good decisions, I’m putting the ball where I want to. I still think there’s another level of improvement I can get to coming back from injury on ball rotation and spin rate and all that. So, that’s going to continue to get better as I get healthier, so there’s always another level to find.”

Wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase

Through five weeks, New York has yet to allow a 100-yard receiver, but Chase has a good chance to become the first this week.

Like Burrow, Chase has been playing his best football as the season has settled in, recording 19 catches for 396 yards and five touchdowns the past three weeks.

There’s no reason he should slow down, either, as he is clearly Burrow’s go-to man when Cincinnati needs a big play.

Based off how the Bengals defense has been playing, Chase will likely be asked to do the same on several occasions come Sunday night.

Cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt

On Friday, Giants head coach Brian Daboll ruled out first-round rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers for the second straight week with a concussion.

It’s a massive loss for New York as Nabers leads the team with 35 catches for 386 yards and three touchdowns in four games. However, that doesn’t mean things will be easy for Cincinnati, which has allowed the second-most points per game (29.0) and seventh-most total yards per game (365.4) in the league.

In Nabers’ absence last week, veteran wide receiver Darius Slayton filled in nicely, registering eight catches for 122 yards and a touchdown. It wouldn’t be surprising if quarterback Daniel Jones targeted Slayton early and often once again.

Taylor-Britt will likely be given the task of minimizing Slayton’s impact. The third-year cornerback has 21 tackles, one interception and five passes defensed on the season.
