Premier League Darts 2025: Luke Littler, Luke Humphries, Michael van Gerwen and more player profiles

Luke Littler, Luke Humphries and Michael van Gerwen all feature among a star-studded 2025 Premier League Darts line-up.

The tournament will be staged on Thursday nights from February until May, as the sport’s top stars battle it out for the coveted title and £1m in prize money.

Littler and Humphries are part of an eight-player field, which also includes Van Gerwen, who is looking for a record-extending eighth Premier League crown, and 2019 runner-up Rob Cross.

We take a closer look at the players chasing one of the biggest trophies in the sport…

Luke Humphries

Humphries dominated darts for a period at the end of 2023, winning four majors in the space of three months to jump atop the world rankings.

‘Cool Hand’ sparked his impressive streak with a maiden major title at the World Grand Prix, then followed victory at the Grand Slam of Darts a month later by winning the Players Championship Finals.

Humphries claimed the biggest win of his career by securing a maiden world championship title against teenager Littler in 2024.

He then won the World Cup for England in June alongside Michael Smith and made history in Blackpool in July by becoming just the second player after Phil Taylor to win the Worlds and World Matchplay in the same year.

His year finished with a shock defeat to Mike De Decker in the final of the World Grand Prix, early elimination in the group stage of the Grand Slam of Darts, and then defeat to Peter Wright at Alexandra Palace in December.

Luke Littler

Littler was handed his Premier League debut last year after his sensational run to the world championship final, where he captured the imagination of the sporting world with his remarkable rookie appearance at the Alexandra Palace.

The then-16-year-old became the youngest player to reach the final where he lost out to Humphries, but 2024 saw the Warrington star win 10 PDC titles, including the Premier League title on debut, where he hit an incredible nine-darter in defeating Humphries 11-7.

He continued his remarkable journey by winning the Grand Slam of Darts title and World Series Finals before consolidating his status as the biggest star in the game by winning the world championship with a 7-3 demolition of Michael van Gerwen.

Littler also won the Bahrain Darts Masters, Poland Darts Masters, Belgian Darts Open and Austrian Darts Open as well as hitting four nine-darters, taking his earnings to over £1.5m in prize money in just 13 months.

Michael van Gerwen

Van Gerwen has enjoyed more success in the event than any other player in its history, with the ‘Green Machine’ now aiming to add to his record tally of seven titles.

The Dutchman is making a 13th-consecutive Premier League appearance. He has only finished outside the top four once, meaning Van Gerwen will be among the pre-tournament favourites once again.

He did not win a televised tournament in 2024, for the first time in a calendar year since 2011, and he was surprisingly dismantled by 17-year-old Littler in a one-sided world championship final.

Rob Cross

PDC Order of Merit: 4th

Last year: 6th

PL Best: Runner-up (2019)

Walk on Song: ‘Hot Hot Hot’ by Arrow.

The 2018 world champion returned to the Premier League in 2024 after missing the two previous editions, having finished runner-up in two major TV events.

‘Voltage’ made an impressive run to the semi-finals of the world championship last year before being beaten by Littler, his best finish since winning the event. He suffered an early exit at the 2025 Worlds, losing to Scott Williams in the second round.

After lifting titles at the US Darts Masters and Baltic Sea Darts Open, Cross is back and set to make his sixth Premier League appearance.

Is Bunting the people’s champion?

‘The Bullet’ made a fantastic start to the 2024 season after he beat Van Gerwen to win the Masters, Bunting’s first televised PDC title.

His run to the semi-finals at the worlds is enough to take him into the Premier League for the first time in 10 years after finishing eighth in 2015.

Expect the crowd to be chanting “Let’s go Bunting mental!” when the players hit the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool on Night 12.

Gerwyn Price

PDC Order of Merit: 9th

‘The Iceman’ endured a nightmare campaign on debut in 2018, suffering elimination without a win to his name, before recording consecutive fifth-placed finishes in 2019 and 2020.

He landed two nine-darters on an incredible night in Belfast in the 2022 campaign, where he finished seventh, then produced his best Premier League in the 2023 event when he finished runner-up to Van Gerwen.

After making the final in Cardiff on Night One last year, he would’ve felt positively about the season ahead, but after that he made only one more final in Manchester nine weeks later, where he lost to Littler.

Chris Dobey

PDC Order of Merit: 10th

Last year: DNP

PL Best: He appeared as contender in 2019 and 2020 and was 7th in 2023

Walk on Song: ‘Let’s Get Ready to Rumble’ – PJ & Duncan

Chris Dobey will make just his second Premier League Darts appearance after reaching the semi-finals of the World Championship for the first time.

Dobey had a largely disappointing 2024 but a big win over Gerwyn Price in the quarter-finals at Alexandra Palace saw him make the last four, where he lost to Van Gerwen.

”Hollywood’ won three Players Championship titles last year, including a nine-darter in April, and is a former Masters champion.

Nathan Aspinall

PDC Order of Merit: 11th

Last year: 5th

PL Best: Runner-up (2020)

Walk on Song: ‘Mr Brightside’ by The Killers.

Aspinall, runner-up to Glen Durrant on his full debut in 2020, is back for a third successive Premier League appearance.

‘The Asp’ has struggled previously with injury, but he then bounced back to end his four-year wait for a second major TV title when he thrashed Jonny Clayton to win the World Matchplay in 2023 for the biggest win of his career.

The Stockport star reached the semi-finals of The Masters and then made a run to the quarter-finals of the world championship where he was crushed by Littler.
