MBM Motorsports carries new sponsor, fresh outlook into Cup Series race at Homestead

When MBM Motorsports’ No. 66 hits the track on Sunday afternoon for the Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, the race will signify a breath of fresh air for the organization.

Driver Chad Finchum will make the eighth start of his Cup Series career on Sunday and his second of the 2024 season. Finchum’s prior Cup Series start in 2024 came at the Nashville Superspeedway on June 30.

As Finchum prepares to take to the high banks of the 1.5 mile oval, he’ll do so with a new sponsor adorning his Ford Mustang Dark Horse.

Aires Tech — a company that provides a shield from electromagnetic field radiation (EMF) — will join the team this weekend.

“We are an official partner of UFC, WWE and Canada Basketball to reinforce our position as an industry leader in EMF neutralizing technology,” said Josh Bruni, CEO of AiresTech. “As word got out about what we were doing, MBM Motorsports called us about supporting their race team. We soon realized we had a chance to create the first ever EMF-free race team.”

Racing created an opportunity for Aires Tech to further explore its field and test its equipment in a highly intense environment.

“Drivers and team operate on split-second margins in high pressure conditions. Research suggests that exposure to EMF can affect cognitive performance,” Bruni said. “With cockpit temperatures between 100 and 140 degrees and speeds hitting 180 miles per hour this weekend, this partnership underscores the versatility and reliability of our technology in a sport where split-second decisions matter.”

With a new sponsor and a fresh slate awaiting MBM Motorsports, team owner Carl Long believes there’s a lot to look forward to this weekend.

“We’ll get as much track time as possible with the Next-Gen car,” Long explained. “We see it as a great opportunity to learn and improve. Plus, we want to make sure we shine a spotlight on all our partners, showing everyone the awesome support we have behind us.”

For a small team such as MBM, track time with the new car is crucial for continuing to grow their program. The race gives MBM Motorsports the opportunity to race on the stage of the NASCAR playoffs in a serene Florida setting.

“Palm trees, sandy beaches and a beautiful 1.5 mile oval – what’s not to love? It (running at Homestead) lined up nicely for us,” Long continued. “The No. 66 team is looking forward to joining a key race on the Cup schedule.”

Sunday’s race at Homestead-Miami is the first Cup Series start at the track for the 30-year-old Finchum, who has also made Cup Series starts at Bristol, Texas, Kansas, Las Vegas and Nashville.

Sunday’s race is the 34th event of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season, and serves as the second race in the penultimate round of the playoffs. Joey Logano clinched a spot in the Championship Four on Oct. 20 with his victory at Las Vegas, and seven of his championship competitors will hope to do the same on Sunday.

Christopher Bell is the defending winner at Homestead-Miami, while Kyle Larson won at the track in 2022, the first year of the Next-Gen car.

The Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Homestead-Miami will go green shortly after 2:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, with coverage on NBC, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
