LaMarcus Aldridge on Tim Duncan: ‘He’s my favorite player’

LaMarcus Aldridge: “To play with Tim, it was better than I could imagine. You always hear like, ‘This guy’s a great teammate,’ and in the back of your mind, you think, ‘He ain’t that good.’ But with Tim, it was true. He’s selfless, cares about winning, only has one goal, which is to make everybody better. He’s my favorite player. To meet him, play with him, and realize that he’s that good of a person—it was cool. He had my back, passed me the torch, and supported me through it all.

More on this storyline

For Curry, passing to Thompson for a 3 was unmatched. His 622 assists on Thompson 3-pointers is the most by any duo in the past 25 seasons, according to ESPN Research. Green’s assists on 611 3-pointers to Curry is second. “You develop that chemistry over so many years and battles,” Curry said. “The lights of the brightest in the playoffs and championships, we earned that level of trust in chemistry and expectation that if we got out there, if we were healthy, we had a chance to beat anybody. It’s a great feeling every time you got on the court. In the history of the league, it’s very rare that you get a core of three that stay together that long. “The Spurs [trio of Duncan, Ginobili and Parker are] probably up there, but just thinking about how iconic that trio, what we were able to accomplish. We wanted to keep it together for … forever.” -via ESPN / October 9, 2024
Shannon Sharpe: So we got Tim Duncan, we got Kevin Garnett, we got Dirk Nowitzki, we got Karl Malone. So we only got one more left, so that’s either Giannis Antetokounmpo, Charles Barkley, Chris Bosh, Dennis Rodman… Karl-Anthony Towns: I was thinking in the beginning it was Chris Bosh, but Charles Barkley was so special… People got to take the time to go back and watch Charles Barkley highlights, like don’t let what you see on TNT fool you bro, that man was a beast, he was legit, a beast and he had a jumper people don’t even give him credit for the jumper he had. I’m gonna give it to Charles man. -via YouTube / October 7, 2024
How cool would it be if Angel Reese and Tim Duncan trained together in the offseason? “I mean always learning from a legend is great,” Reese told Scoop B Radio of Duncan, the San Antonio Spurs Hall of Famer. “For me, I love to pick people’s brains and pick a lot of great players’ brains so of course it would be great. “I’m just worried about right now. I mean I can’t dictate who I workout with, I’m just looking forward to getting better at the moment.” 2024 is a year of firsts in the WNBA. It could also be a year of first in United States politics. -via ScoopB.com / August 21, 2024
