Ian Begley: Nice job by Mikal Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns, who provided gifts and company to local families in need ahead of today’s Christmas Day game against the Spurs. Bridges purchased 55 gifts for three families of single mothers, covering their entire gift list. He connected with the families through the Garden of Dreams Foundation Adopt-A-Family Program. The families are from SCO Family of Services – a Garden of Dreams partner – and part of Crotona Inn Family Shelter in the Bronx, which provides families with children a safe place to stay. In addition to providing gifts, Bridges invited the three families to Monday’s game – a home win over TOR. Afterward, he met with the families and surprised them with additional $1,000 Nike gift cards and team apparel. They watched the game in a private suite. Towns purchased gifts for a family from the school where his aunt teaches, Paterson Prep Charter School in New Jersey. He invited them to Monday’s game, met with them after the win and provided them gift bags. Towns also will be providing a holiday brunch for 50 people currently at Covenant House on Christmas Day.
