Jonathan Kuminga’s name never seriously came up in trade talks between Clippers, Warriors for Paul George
To Green’s surprise, because of the second apron, the Clippers weren’t interested in taking something back just to avoid losing George for nothing. Sending George to the Warriors to get players like Moody, expiring contracts and some draft capital also would have meant taking on a hefty contract like that of Wiggins, who has three years and $85 million left on a four-year, $109 million deal. That would’ve kept the Clippers from going after another young star in the future, according to team sources. League sources also told ESPN that Jonathan Kuminga’s name never seriously came up in talks of any significance between the Clippers and Warriors.

Warriors lose their home opener to the Clippers and lose Steph Curry to a painful-looking left ankle sprain. Andrew Wiggins (29 pts on 11/15 FG) nearly dragged them back, but the 21 turnovers were killer. Hield/Kuminga/Podziemski a combined 2/20 from 3. – 11:06 PM

Joel Embiid and Paul George (both out) are the only Sixers listed on the injury report for tomorrow afternoon’s game @ the Pacers.
Caleb Martin was probable for last night’s game @ Toronto (right calf contusion), but started and played 34 minutes. He’s now off the injury report. – 6:15 PM

More on this storyline
“The most challenging part is we’ve got a great owner and there’s always a willingness to spend,” Dunleavy told ESPN earlier this month. “So we’ll figure out the CBA stuff. But it’s really just the timeline. You can’t get years back. You can’t make guys younger. And so to balance that and make moves to enable us to really be good and get over the top now is what’s challenging.” The second apron is one of several reasons trade talks for George never truly materialized, league sources told ESPN. -via ESPN / October 29, 2024

The Philadelphia 76ers are a team with potential interest in Jonathan Kuminga, reports Jake Fischer. The Sixers could use the contract of K.J. Martin and their future draft picks to acquire a player like Kuminga. The Golden State Warriors and Kuminga were unable to agree to terms on a contract extension and were reportedly never close. The Warriors would be “happy to pay” Kuminga if he demonstrates the ability to produce at a high level over a bigger sample size. “The Sixers have definitely indicated around the league and behind the scenes that they are willing to pay to add in another piece,” said Fischer. “They are willing to spend their draft capital.” Fischer said the Sixers’ ownership group is prepared to go over the luxury tax to maximize their title chances. The Brooklyn Nets are another team who could pursue Kuminga. The Nets figure to have as much cap space as any team “There’s already been rumblings of Brooklyn potentially willing to throw a big offer sheet at Jonathan Kuminga,” said Fischer. -via RealGM / October 25, 2024
Jonathan Kuminga was asked about the fact that his extension didn’t get done in the locker room postgame. “I’m not really concerned about it,” he told The Athletic. “I’m just concerned about coming out here and performing every other day. I ain’t really thinking about that. The time came and nothing happened. So I’m not very concerned about it much anymore. I can just be me and not think about it. I’ve been through so much. A lot of people don’t know me, don’t know what I’ve been through. There’s not too many things that can break me.” -via New York Times / October 24, 2024
