Five-star twins with former NBA father down to two finalists

The recruiting processes of elite 2025 prospects Cameron Boozer and Cayden Boozer are nearly wrapped up.

The five-star twin brothers, who are the sons of former Duke national champion and NBA All-Star Carlos Boozer, plan to make their college decision known on Oct. 10, according to a report from Adam Zagoria and Sam Lance of ZAGSBLOG.

Per ZAGSBLOG, the 6-foot-9, 235-pound Cameron, a power forward, and the 6-foot-4, 205-pound Cayden, a point guard, will choose between Atlantic Coast Conference schools Duke and Miami.

The Boozer twins recently took unofficial visits to both ACC suitors. Additionally, Duke head coach Jon Scheyer and Miami head coach Jim Larranaga have been in attendance for them at the powerhouse Christopher Columbus High School in Miami, where the Boozers are seniors.

Media reports have indicated that the Boozer twins aren’t necessarily a package deal, although it’s likely that they will end up committing to the same college program. Whether that’s the Blue Devils or the Hurricanes, one of those teams is going to prevail in a massive 2025 recruiting triumph.

Currently, Cameron Boozer is rated as the No. 2 national prospect, the No. 1 power forward and the No. 1 player in the Sunshine State, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite. Cayden Boozer, meanwhile, checks in at No. 21 nationally, No. 4 at point guard and No. 4 in Florida within the senior recruiting cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Duke, for the time being, doesn’t have any verbal pledges in the 2025 class. In late August, Miami got on the board for this cycle, securing a verbal commitment from 2025 four-star shooting guard and top-40 national prospect Matthew Able out of the Sagemont Preparatory School in Weston, Fla.

What Cameron and Cayden have done thus far in their high school and AAU careers has proven the stuff of legends. For one, they have led the Miami-based Nightrydas Elite to three consecutive Peach Jam titles on Nike’s EYBL circuit, including a crown in the main 17U division this past July.

The Boozers have also guided Columbus to three straight Florida High School Athletic Association (“FHSAA”) Class 7A state championships. During the 2023-24 season, Columbus finished 28-5 overall, was ranked a top-five national squad and reached the semifinals of this past spring’s Chipotle Nationals in Brownsburg, Ind.

As a junior in 2023-24, Cameron averaged 22.3 points, 11.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.1 blocks per contest on his way to being named the national junior of the year by MaxPreps while Cayden averaged 12.0 points, 7.6 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game for Columbus.

Looking ahead to the 2024-25 campaign, Columbus is projected by high school basketball analysts as a preseason top-five team that will once again significantly contend for a return trip to the Chipotle Nationals.
