Russian troops launched rockets at the southern Ukrainian city of Mykolaïv on Tuesday, killing one and wounding at least 23.

Ukrainian media reports the missile strike damaged an industrial facility, retail and hospitality businesses, residential buildings and cars. Rescuers are currently restoring order after the explosion.

Further south, Russian attacks on the Dniprovskyi district of Kherson killed two, according to the head of Kherson regional military administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, but Ukrainian press puts the death toll at much higher (four).

The attacks in Dniprovskyi occurred at 6 pm on Monday, causing a large fire to break out due to heavy shelling. One resident said they were at home when they heard shots fired on the street.

Russian forces struck the Ukrainian army and military facilities in 129 areas in 24 hours in a special military operation, resulting in the deaths of at least 500 Ukrainian soldiers, news agency TASS reported on Tuesday.

The report quotes a statement from Russia’s Ministry of Defence claiming the “tactical” attack “inflicted damage” across the country, including Ukraine’s south.
