Hamilton speaks to Euronews as F1 revs up for Grand Prix weekend
The seven-time Formula 1 world champion recently shocked the world of motorsports by deciding to join Ferrari in 2025, calling it one of the hardest decisions he has ever had to make.
Lewis Hamilton holds the record for the most career Formula 1 race wins and is widely considered the greatest driver in motorsport history.
In February this year, the British driver shocked the racing world when he said he would suit up for Ferrari in 2025, calling it one of the hardest decisions he has ever had to make.
Euronews spoke to Hamilton, currently driving for Mercedes, ahead of the big race this weekend.
“I think some of the biggest hurdles are probably second-guessing yourself, having doubts on whether or not you can do something when things get tough,” said the seven-time Formula 1 world champion.
“So self-belief, I think, has been one of the most important things for me to continue.”
For the 2024 Qatar Grand Prix, 20 of the world’s best drivers will line up at the starting grid of the newly upgraded Lusail International Circuit.
All eyes will be on Hamilton as he heads into his final lap with Mercedes, trading in his Silver Arrows for the iconic red of Ferrari.
Hamilton will wear a unique race suit featuring patches that say “space mission” and his starting number “44” during the race.
The “space mission” patch is a reference to his recent fulfilment of a childhood dream, where he entered the cockpit of a high-performance training jet to participate in flight training for astronauts.
