As per the GoFundMe, Julian explained that he and his father were both on weight-loss journeys, and had their bariatric procedures around the same time.

Julian didn’t mention the reason for his father’s death. Instead, he praised his dad, writing about how resilient he was. Julian also loved his father’s sense of humor. His dad never gave up on him and his sister.
