Today’s Connections Hints & Answers For September 24, 2024 (Puzzle #470)

In today’s Connections, players will want to turn over a new leaf by winning the puzzle. Interestingly, some of the easier categories seem harder than the traditionally hard categories today, but that is always down to the player’s personal experience. If you want to win, you will need to pay close attention to some of the simpler words, as they are the ones that can be deceptive today.

If you like the other word puzzles and want to test your knowledge of the dictionary, the NYT Spelling Bee puzzle is the way to go. You will need to know as many five or more letter words as possible to get the highest score. This puzzle is less about winning and more about getting as high of a score as possible, pitting yourself against past scores and your friends if they play as well.

If you want to have the best Connections strategy, you will be paying close attention to what the categories might be, which is always a game of working backward to deduce how the words are connected. To help you make those logical leaps, here are some clues to make it that much easier:

• One category is about a feeling
• One category is about planning
• One category is about things you use for special occasions
• One category is about jobs people can have

Yellow Answers: Revealed & Explained

In a random twist of fate, the yellow category today was the last one I was able to solve. Partly because NOVEL and BOOK could be a little tricky if you got stuck on them and partly because some of the other categories felt more straightforward. Describing a feeling can always be a bit hard, even with the right words, and in this case, connecting these four words does not seem intuitive at first glance. Seeing them together now is a little odd but not impossible.

Green Answers: Revealed & Explained

For much the same reason as the above, this category was the second-to-last category I solved today. CHARTER and BOOK I added last to this group, mainly after the other words in the puzzle had been taken, and I realized there was not a “words for book” category. RESERVE and SECURE clued me into what this category meant, and it was more accessible. Luckily, I did not use up a guess on the book and novel conundrum, as I was able to see that there were no other words that could go with them.

Blue Answers: Revealed & Explained

I was able to solve this category first today, as seeing BANNER and STREAMER caught my attention first. After looking at the other possible words, I ended up cutting STREAMER and adding in BALLOON, as it seemed more like general party decorations than words for a specific type of string decoration. It was still quite lucky, as streamers can be party decorations, but I was guessing that of all the words in this group, that one seemed to fit in the least and could go into other categories more easily.

Purple Answers: Revealed & Explained

After not putting STREAMER in the past category, I saw it and INFLUENCER and thought they likely went together. AMBASSADOR was fairly easy to add in, but I did have a choice to make for the last word. I thought there was a fairly equal chance that CREATIVE and MODEL could be an online job, but was not sure which one would be more acceptable. Luckily, I guessed right that MODEL seemed more likely and that the other choice could belong elsewhere. In this case, creative seemed a little too general for what the category was going for.

After solving this puzzle, if you still have some creative juices flowing, you should try out one of the puzzles listed below. For our part, we would recommend the Dordle game. It is sort of like a crossword puzzle mixed with Wordle, and it can be a challenge as you have the same amount of guesses as in the more popular puzzle but an extra word to guess.
