If you had to stop guessing on today’s Connections puzzle because you were running out of possible mistakes, you can try one last time with these hints and tricks to ensure you do not fail. There is a fun mix of words in this one, at least in my opinion, and I felt like I enjoyed solving this one. It will also be my pleasure, as always, to get you through this one and on the right foot to do so again tomorrow.
If you like making matches, you can make all the matches you can possibly want in the NYT Tiles game. This one is all about matching pieces layer by layer to each other, all the while building up a strong streak to get your points as high as you can. The higher the score, the better you’ve done and the more you can boast about it to all your puzzle-playing friends.
Today’s Connections Category Hints
NOVEMBER 06 #514
Having a fun mix of words can be a good or bad thing as sometimes that can make them feel more similar to you and prevent you from separating them out properly. However, today I found it just challenging enough to trip me up a couple of times but without losing the whole thing. To ensure that other people have that same fun experience as opposed to a frustrating one, I have put together a group of clues to help you out:
- One category is about options you can find on a particular device
- One category is about four words that are all about discovery
- One category is all about words that convey meaning to someone else
- One category is all about things that share a common trait although it might not seem so at first glance

PAUSE | PLAY | RECORD | STOP |
I did not get this one first, but I found this one shortly after solving another. I noticed RECORD and PAUSE and that did make me immediately think of a remote control. PLAY and STOP were easy to spot after that, and it was a quick one to submit. There were not really any words elsewhere in the puzzle that I was worried about, because none of them are often found on a television or DVR. That made this one actually feel easy today, which was a nice break after yesterday.

DIFFERENT | NEW | NOVEL | ORIGINAL |
This was the first category I got today, and I think it was likely because I saw NEW and NOVEL right next to each other when the puzzle loaded in for me. It was too much of a coincidence to ignore, and I found ORIGINAL and DIFFERENT nearly immediately. There was not much else that I thought could go here either, which made me more confident. My confidence has been deeply misplaced in other Connections puzzles, but I was happy that today was not one of those days.

CORRESPOND | MESSAGE | TEXT | WRITE |
This is the one category that I did stumble once and I felt a little silly afterward. I originally had POEM instead of CORRESPOND in the group of words, but I had not really seen that and I thought it was just words that symbolized some kind of writing. If I had thought harder about it, I likely would have realized that WRITE is not a kind of writing but a verb and I would not have made that mistake, but other than causing me to get a “Great” instead of a “Perfect!” it did not cause me much trouble.

BIPED | FURNITURE | POEM | YARDSTICK |
This was just the remaining words left, but it makes a lot of sense now that I am looking at it. I never really considered many of these words before this category, except POEM, so I was not too worried by this one. However, I do like that “feet” means a lot of different things in this context, and I found it amusing. Overall, I was pretty happy with my result in this puzzle, and I hope you had a great time finishing it up as well.
