The Masked Singer Season 12: Every Celebrity Reveal

The Masked Singer season 12 has 15 mystery celebrity singers competing for the coveted Golden Mask trophy, and there have already been some incredible reveals. The Masked Singer season 12 welcomed back host Nick Cannon, along with panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, and Rita Ora. Season 12 has three groups of five contestants, including Group A (Buffalo, Woodpecker, Leaf Sheep, Showbird, and Ship), Group B (Chess Piece, Dust Bunny, Bluebell, Wasp, and Goo), and Group C (Sherlock Hound, Royal Knight, Strawberry Shortcake, Ice King, and Macaron).




The Masked Singer season 12 introduced Masked Ambassadors, who are alums of the show with special connections to the newest contestants. Season 12 will also feature all-new theme nights, including Footloose Night, Miley Cyrus Night, Barbie Night, Sports Night, ’60s Night, and Who Are You Fest Night, which will feature music from memorable festival lineups. In addition, Thanksgiving Night and Soundtrack of My Life Night, which have been featured before, will return. Here are all of the Masked Singer season 12 contestants who’ve been revealed so far.


John Elway – Leaf Sheep

The Masked Singer Group A Contestant


The first Masked Singer season 12 contestant to be revealed was Leaf Sheep, who was NFL legend John Elway, who’s a two-time Super Bowl champion and NFL Hall of Famer. His Masked Ambassador was The Masked Singer season 11 contestant DeMarcus Ware (Koala). John was unmasked during premiere night after his performance of Tim McGraw’s “I Like It, I Love It.” The panelists’ final guesses for Leaf Sheep were Troy Aikman (Robin), Tom Brady (Jenny), and Billy Bob Thornton (Rita). Only Ken guessed him correctly.

After he was unmasked, John shared that he wasn’t in his comfort zone doing The Masked Singer, but he’s in retirement now, and he had the opportunity, and he took advantage of it. He added that it was great to be there and he had a great time. John thought that all of his grandkids would be “happy to see Poppy jump out of the Leaf Sheep.”John ended his run on the show with a spirited reprise of “I Like It, I Love It,” joined by Nick and the panelists.


Yvette Nicole Brown – Showbird

The Masked Singer Group A Contestant

The Masked Singer season 12 Group A contestant Showbird was unmasked during Footloose Night, and revealed to be actress Yvette Nicole Brown. Yvette began her Masked Singer journey on premiere night, when she was introduced by her Masked Ambassador and Community co-star Joel McHale. She sang “Just Fine” by Mary J. Blige, and impressed the panelists with her vocals and stage presence.

During Footloose Night, Yvette sang a rousing rendition of “Let’s Hear It for the Boy” by Deniece Williams. She did a fantastic job singing and dancing, and was a total crowd-pleaser. Before she was unmasked, the Masked Singer panelists gave their final guesses for her identity. Ken had figured out that Showbird was his good friend and Community co-star Yvette, and Robin agreed with him. However, Jenny guessed that she was Taraji P. Henson, while Rita thought that she might be Sheila E.


After she was unmasked, Yvette shared that she was emotional because being on The Masked Singer was a love letter to Ken. She said that they’d been asking her to do the show for years. Yvette added that singing was her first love, but, when it didn’t work out, it was hard. However, she did the show for Ken. Yvette said that it’d been twenty years since she’d sung as herself rather than as animated characters or on Community. Yvette sang a spirited reprise of “Let’s Hear It for the Boy,” which got everyone up and dancing, including Nick and the panelists.

Marsai Martin – Woodpecker

During The Masked Singer season 12 Group A finals on Soundtrack of My Life Night, Woodpecker was unmasked and revealed to be actress Marsai Martin. Marsai made her debut on premiere night, during which she sang “Flowers” by Miley Cyrus. She was introduced by her Masked Ambassador, Jenifer Lewis, who was her Black-ish co-star and The Masked Singer season 11 contestant Miss Cleocatra.

Marsai then advanced to Footloose Night, and sang “Holding Out for A Hero” by Bonnie Tyler. During Soundtrack of My Life Night, she was the first to say goodbye during the double elimination after she sang, “Put Your Records On” by Corinne Bailey Rae. Throughout all of these performances, Marsai showcased her spectacular vocals and stage presence.

Before Marsai was unmasked, the Masked Singer panelists offered their final guesses for Woodpecker, including Liza Koshy (Robin), Keke Palmer (Rita), Quinta Brunson (Ken), and Tatyana Ali (Jenny). No one was able to guess Marsai’s true identity correctly.

After she was unmasked, Marsai shared that she did The Masked Singer because she and her Grandma Bonnie have always watched the show from the very beginning. She also said that singing has been out of her comfort zone for the longest time. It felt fun and exciting for her to be able to be behind the mask and have a facade. Marsai concluded her Masked Singer run with a fantastic reprise of “Holding Out for a Hero.”

Paula Cole – Ship

The Masked Singer Group A Contestant


The Masked Singer season 12 contestant Ship was unmasked during the Group A finals on Soundtrack of My Life Night, and revealed to be singer Paula Cole. Paula made her debut on premiere night with her mystical version of “Pompeii” by Bastille. Her Masked Ambassador was The Masked Singer season 6 winner Jewel.

During Footloose Night, Paula dazzled the audience and the panelists with her heartfelt version of “Almost Paradise” by Mike Reno and Ann Wilson. Her Soundtrack of My Life song was “Because the Night” by Patti Smith Group. After Woodpecker was eliminated and revealed to be Marsai Martin, Ship competed in the first Masked Singer season 12 Battle Royale versus the Buffalos. They both sang their own unique versions of “Go Your Own Way” by Fleetwood Mac.


The Masked Singer season 12 panelists chose not to use the Ding Dong Keep It On Bell to save anyone, so the Buffalos to moved on to the quarterfinals, while Ship was unmasked and revealed to be Paula. Before she revealed herself, the panelists made their final guesses for her identity, including Sarah McLachlan (Rita), Alanis Morissette (Ken), and Amy Lee (Robin). Only Jenny guessed Paula correctly.

After she was unmasked, Paula shared that she joined The Masked Singer season 12 because she was asked to. She thought that it made her uncomfortable, but she also thought that there was so much possibility when people “pick up their bravery” and do something outside of their comfort zones. Paula shared that she pushed herself, and then it was fun.

Paula also said that she’d get to watch the show with her daughter. She thanked everyone, including the panelists, the audience, and her whole family. Paula concluded her incredible run on the show with a beautiful and joyous performance of her hit song, “I Don’t Want to Wait.”


Andy Richter – Dust Bunny

The Masked Singer Group B Contestant

During The Masked Singer season 12 Group B premiere on Sports Night, Dust Bunny was unmasked and revealed to be actor and comedian Andy Richter. Andy made his Masked Singer debut with a rousing rendition of “Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond. His Masked Ambassador was Dick Van Dyke, who was The Masked Singer season 9’s Gnome.

Dust Bunny was a unique costume because it had clues hidden all over it, including on the back. When he was unmasked, Andy explained some of the clues, including a racecar that represented Talladega Nights, and popcorn which referenced when he and Conan O’Brien used to do movie reviews and eat popcorn. Andy admitted that he wouldn’t have guessed those clues either.


As Dust Bunny, Andy completely stumped the panelists. Before he was unmasked, they offered their final guesses for his identity, including Will Ferrell (Ken), John C. Reilly (Jenny), Jay Leno (Rita), and Chevy Chase (Robin). After he was unmasked, when Nick asked him why he wanted to join The Masked Singer, he jokingly said that he had a four-year-old, and he needed to get out of the house.

For his final message, Andy shared that he wanted to say what a joy it had been working there and how much fun he had. Andy concluded his run on the show with a rousing reprise of “Sweet Caroline,” which had everyone, including Nick and the panelists singing and dancing along. As Dust Bunny, Andy swept everyone up in the moment, and he certainly was a joy to watch.

The Masked Singer season 12 has already been one of its most thrilling yet. The premiere was jam-packed with incredible talent. Groups A and B set the standard for excellence. It’s going to be very exciting to see who’s revealed next, and to meet the Group C contestants.
