The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom – How To Get Bombs Early
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom acts similarly to other games in the series by making bombs a valuable item you’ll want to get early in your adventures. Those familiar with The Legend of Zelda games will know that bombs are powerful tools to break down obstacles. Bombs can clear paths, damage enemies, and open up the game’s larger world for further exploration.
Bombs come in many forms – either as traditional items you can place or as powerful Echoes in TLoZ: Echoes of Wisdom. Echoes can be called upon at any time, allowing you to summon the memory of an item or enemy you’ve interacted with. There are two different forms of bomb Echoes that you can collect early to have access to explosives before you get them naturally in the story.
How To Get Bombs
Gain The Right Echoes
Bombs are found in two separate Echoes for Bombfish and Zirro mushrooms that you can discover in various locations. While you do get traditional bomb items later in the main story, it may be better to get bombs early to break through obstacles right away. For example, one of the many dungeons in the game can only be solved with bombs, so you can’t gain its rewards until you have explosives on hand.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom – All Outfit Locations
In The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Zelda has several different useful outfits that can be unlocked. Here is how to obtain them.
If you’re wondering in what order you should try to get these bombs, the best way to start is to go after Bombfish first. These bombs are among the best Echoes to get early due to how much easier they are to find compared to Zirro Echoes or the traditional bombs. However, you need to have some combat Echoes with you before you can begin searching for any type of bomb present in TLoZ: Echoes of Wisdom.
How To Get & Use The Bombfish
Defeat A Dangerous Enemy
The Bombfish Echo can be obtained when you defeat the Bombfish enemy at Zora River, a location to the east you may have explored before. This place can only be accessed once you finish the first rift and complete the Suthorn Forest dungeon. Go south from the Zora River until you see a cave just to the left of the huge rift on your map within the region to pursue the Bombfish.
When you enter the cave, you’ll see a small stream with a sign that says not to disturb the Bombfish swimming in these waters. You should be able to spot the Bombfish going back and forth in the water, ready to explode if you accidentally fall into the stream. All you need to do is set off the bomb fish from far away to make sure it is defeated and ready to be picked up as an Echo.
You can use a variety of Echoes Zelda already has to defeat the Bombfish, such as the Chompfin, who can attack the Bombfish in the water and force it to detonate.
This Bombfish south of the Zora River Village is not the only one in the larger Jabul Waters region you can defeat for the Echo. Once you have it, you can throw the Bombfish at an enemy or target a foe using L2 to have it swim and detonate on a target. The Bombfish cannot damage you, so use its explosions to destroy cracked walls, breakable objects, or against bosses in TLoZ: Echoes of Wisdom.
How To Get & Use The Zirro Echo
Knock Enemies Out Of The Sky
Zirros are small creatures that look like mushrooms with wings that fly around Hyrule as annoying enemies who drop bombs periodically. You can use these creatures as an Echo once you beat one of them for the first time, similar to the Bombfish. However, you don’t encounter Zirros until you reach Eldin Volcano, a place you normally won’t visit until much later in the game’s story.
You can visit Eldin Volcano early to start encountering Zirros, mainly to the west of Goron City. Avoid the bombs being dropped by Zirros and summon an Echo that uses ranged attacks to attack these creatures out of the air. Any type of thrown spears, arrows, or other ranged moves will eventually take down at least one Zirro and give you the Echo you want.
The easiest way to find Zirros to fight is to travel west past the place in Goron City where you can

TLoZ: Echoes of Wisdom
and travel on the path just past the settlement’s entrance.
Using a Zirro Echo is significantly harder than using a Bombfish, but the controls are pretty much the same. You can still target enemies using L2, causing a summoned Zirro Echo to drop a bomb on an enemy to explode after a short time. Even though these bombs detonate fast, it can be hard to time their explosions to actually hit targets, including destructible parts of the environment you want to get past for exploration.
How To Get Normal Bombs
Defeat A Dark Reflection
Normal bombs are also called Bombs of Might, which you can get once you defeat Dark Link in the Eldin Volcano dungeon. This evil reflection of the legendary hero Link acts as the final boss of the dungeon, using only their traditional bombs to try and take you down. The boss arena is filled with cracked sandblocks that can be destroyed once a bomb goes off near them.

Can You Play As Link In Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom?
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom is lauded for featuring Princess Zelda as the protagonist, but is Link playable in the game as well?
You need to let Dark Link expose a path leading up to him through the blocks the boss destroys. As long as you don’t stay too close to an explosion, you can reach Dark Link and attack him using your Swordfighter form or a variety of attacking Echoes. As you can see in the above video by YouTube creator Release-Fire, this causes Dark Link to enter a second phase where he throws multiple bombs until you defeat him.
Those who have the Zirro Echo can target Dark Link with aerial bombs of their own, turning the tables on Dark Link and making this boss fight much easier.
Defeating Dark Link will give your Swordfighter form the ability to set down bombs anywhere in the world. Just like with the Zirro and Bombfish Echoes, you can use Bombs of Might to destroy sections of the environment with cracks to reveal hidden treasures or unlock paths to new areas. Those looking for secret Heart Pieces, Fairy Bottles, or Accessories in TLoZ: Echoes of Wisdom will want to use bombs to reveal as many items as they can.
Normal bombs can be thrown when you assume the Swordfighter form and press A, but using a bomb costs Energy. Since you can only be in Swordfighter form for a limited time, this restricts how many bombs you can use without exhausting this combat stance. It is better to use Normal Bombs for combat since you can upgrade Bombs of Might with Lueberry alongside the Swordfighter’s Bow and Sword.
Bombfish are the best explosives to use while exploring, as these are easy to aim and are not limited in number. Those who get bombs early in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will have many ways to open up many secrets around the world that help them grow stronger for their ongoing journey.
