The Best Beauty Looks From the Emmys 2024 Red Carpet

Every year, our favorite actors and A-listers make their way to the Emmys red carpet and set fashion and beauty trends for the season—and the Emmys 2024 were no exception.

This year’s biggest beauty craze? Dark feminine energy-inspired glam, which Quinta Brunson, Mindy Kaling, Laverne Cox, and Ella Purnell all embraced. Rocking smoky eyes or plummy lips (if not both), the Emmy nominees proved that getting sultry on the red carpet is an absolute must.

As for what’s inspiring the move in such a moody direction? According to MAC Cosmetics senior makeup artist Michelle Clark, it’s simply a matter of bringing balance to the beauty universe.

“We’ve seen a rise over the last year in coquette, strawberry, sugarplum fairy, and clean-girl makeup, which all include shades of pink, glowy skin, and an element of girlie and über-feminine softness,” Clark previously told Glamour. “It seems now that there is a need to showcase the duality of [the] feminine—that there is a light and a darkness to everything.” How appropriate, seeing as the start of Libra season marks the official beginning of fall.

In terms of hair, it should come as no surprise that cropped haircuts reigned supreme: Brunson, Rita Ora, and Viola Davis rocked chic pixie cuts, while Naomi Watts, Hannah Einbinder, Kristen Wiig, Catherine O’Hara, Maya Rudolph, and Carrie Coon donned jaw-dropping bobs and lobs.
