Squid Game Season 2: Front Man Star Confirms 1 Major Detail That Many Viewers Spotted In The Six-Legged Race

Squid Game‘s Front Man actor, Lee Byung-hun, confirms an important detail during the six-legged race. The new game in Squid Game season 2 requires teams of five to have their legs tied together while each individual has to complete a mini-competition. Each team only has five minutes to complete the entire challenge, with the losing team being gunned down by the guards. Under the guise of Player 001, the Front Man is on the same team as Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) and is responsible for the spinning top portion of the race.

In a Netflix behind-the-scenes video of Squid Game season 2, Lee confirms that the Front Man is left-handed, but uses his right hand during the competition. Lee was concerned about making this look convincing since he is right-handed, and the switch-up is meant to make it more challenging for the Front Man to complete the spinning top competition in a timely manner. He remarks about being worried that this would lead to an excessive number of bloopers. Check out Lee’s comments below:

The Front Man Struggled With The Spinning Top For Good Reason

With their team doing so well in the six-legged race, it was clear that the Front Man’s struggles with the spinning top was a deliberate attempt to make their victory less seamless. He was able to do this by intentionally using his non-dominant hand during the competition. If he tried to do this with his left hand, it would have been more difficult for the Front Man to make it look like he was genuinely struggling with the game. By using his non-dominant hand, the Front Man actually was having a hard time with the game, which was his intent.

The death of Gi-hun’s friend, Park Jung-bae (Lee Seo-hwan), is the culmination of that betrayal in season 2, but there were plenty of deceptions leading up to this tragedy, including the Front Man using his non-dominant hand to make it more challenging for his team to win the six-legged race. Eagle-eyed viewers noticed the switch, and it adds to how conniving the Front Man is in Squid Game season 2.

Why The Front Man Goes Back To His Left Hand During The Six-Legged Race

He Doesn’t Want Gi-hun To Die yet

While the Front Man struggles to complete the spinning top challenge with his right hand, he eventually goes back to using his left hand after several failed attempts. He does this because, after breezing through the first three mini-competitions, his failure with the spinning top has eaten up a significant amount of time, and Gi-hun still needs to play Jegichagi. The Front Man needs to use his left hand in order to finally be successful at the spinning top game and to keep the team’s chances of survival alive.

If the Front Man continued to sabotage his team for much longer, they would not have been able to finish, and all except for him would have been gunned down. With the six-legged race only being the second competition, and the Front Man not playing in Red Light, Green Light, this is only the first game that he is participating in. He wants to push Gi-hun to his breaking point and to prove him wrong about humanity and the necessity of the games. However, the Front Man would have cut things too short if he let Gi-hun die after only one game together.

The Front Man wants more time to play the games and to pull Gi-hun’s strings. Since Gi-hun and his teammates are fearing for their lives, they are too preoccupied to notice that the Front Man suddenly switches hands. Their fear that transforms into elation supersedes noticing this kind of detail and helps keep one of Squid Game season 2’s biggest plot twists alive. It will be intriguing to see if Gi-hun can look back on what happened and figure out the truth about the Front Man or if the villain will decide to unmask himself in Squid Game season 3.
