‘Nobody Wants This’ Was Just Renewed for Season 2—and Two ‘Girls’ Alumni Have Signed on as Showrunners

Actually, everybody wants a Nobody Wants This season 2. And we’ve got good news: It’s officially happening!

Romantic comedy is so back thanks to Netflix’s latest, which climbed to the number one spot the week after it premiered. The first ten episodes followed the unlikely love story between sex and relationships podcaster Joanne (Kristen Bell) and Jewish rabbi Noah (Adam Brody), reminding millennial viewers why we all fell in love with Brody back on The O.C. along the way.

Season 1 ended with Joanne and Noah together, but a lot of questions remain unanswered. Will Noah have to give up being a rabbi altogether? Will Bina ever learn to fully accept Joanne? And what, exactly, is going on between Sasha and Morgan?

So, here is everything we know about what comes next.

Has Nobody Wants This been renewed yet?

A few weeks after Nobody Wants This premiered on September 26, Netflix made things official: On October 10, the streamer announced that the show had been renewed for a second season—but there will be some big changes behind the scenes. Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, former executive producers of HBO’s award-winning dramedy Girls, will join as executive producers and showrunners; Nora Silver will also join as an executive producer, alongside season 1 executive producers Erin Foster, Sara Foster, Kristen Bell, and Steven Levitan.

In a press release, Konner called the opportunity to work on season 2 “a dream.”

“Erin is the rare creator with a crystal clear voice and a genuinely collaborative spirit,” she adds. “I am a true fan of Erin’s show and also feel so lucky to be back in a room with two of my favorites, Bruce Kaplan and Sarah Heyward from Girls.”

Added Foster, “Creating Nobody Wants This will forever be a career highlight for me. The incredible cast, crew, producers and executives all made this into the show it is today, and to experience viewers’ reactions to this series now that it’s out in the world has been more than anything I could have dreamed. I’m so lucky to be able to continue this story, and to do it alongside Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, who I’ve been such a fan of since Girls… Justice for healthy relationships being the most romantic!”

Which cast members are returning?

The principal cast is confirmed to return, including Kristen Bell (Joanne), Adam Brody (Noah), Justine Lupe (Morgan), and Timothy Simons (Sasha).
