New 2024 Netflix Comedy Series Starring Cheers’ Ted Danson Is No. 1 On The Global Chart

A new 2024 Netflix comedy series staring Cheers star Ted Danson is now the Number 1 TV show on the platform’s global streaming chart this week. Danson’s most well-known role is as Sam Malone in the ’80s and ’90s sitcom, having been on the cast of Cheers from the beginning, all the way to the end of the show in season 11. He was nominated for and won multiple awards in the role, including Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series in 1990 and 1993. Its success led to the recently-revived Frasier as well.

However, he’s also been recognized for his role in later works, with his roles as Michael in The Good Place and Hank in Fargo season 2 being his most recognizable characters in recent years. He’s also had a recurring role as Admiral Perry in The Orville and starred as Mayor Neil Bremer in the short-lived Mr. Mayor. Danson’s new Netflix series, A Man on the Inside, is now the most popular show on the platform this week, following its release on November 21, 2024. The cast of A Man on the Inside is led by Danson, who plays Charles, a former engineering professor and recent widower who becomes the understudy of Julie (Lilah Richcreek Estrada), a private detective. He is tasked with sneaking into Pacific View Retirement Community to retrieve a stolen necklace. The eight-episode comedy has a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes, praised for witty humor and a lively story.

Now, Netflix has reported that A Man on the Inside is the Number 1 TV show on the platform globally for the week of November 18 through November 24, 2024. The series has 27.5 million hours viewed from 6.9 million viewers. Alongside its wider global status, it’s also in the Top 10 of 64 individual countries, ranking Number 1 in 13 countries, those being the United States, Canada, Trinidad and Tobago, Hungary, Iceland, Malta, The Netherlands, Ukraine, Cyprus, Israel, Sri Lanka, Australia, and New Zealand.
