My Hero Academia Announces Return With New Epilogue Following Its Manga Finale

After 430 glorious chapters, My Hero Academia finished its ten-year run in August 2024, but according to its most recent social media update, Kōhei Horikoshi still has treats in store. According to My Hero Academia’s X (formerly Twitter) account, the manga will get a 38-page epilogue detailing the events beyond the final chapter. After the stunning developments following Deku’s final battle against Shigaraki, the manga still has stories to tell, despite the final chapter being a time-skip epilogue in and of itself.

My Hero Academia’s immaculately detailed manga art and tonally more cheerful anime set itself apart from otherwise darker contemporary battle shōnen series. With over 100 million copies in circulation, the manga’s popularity is undeniable. The series easily cruised over from the Japanese market to an eager global pool of consumers eager for superhero and shōnen manga fiction. But with one final manga volume releasing on December 4, 2024, in Japan, the series is setting up one last hurrah as My Hero Academia bows out for good.

Given that, My Hero Academia chapter #430 skips eight years past the final events, where Deku loses One For All, becoming quirkless, the upcoming epilogue in volume 42 is loaded with possibilities. As the chapter was already an epilogue, fans will get more exposure to the alumni of Class 1A and Deku’s life as a teacher at U.A. With one final gift in the last chapter of My Hero Academia gifting Deku the power to fight alongside his friends again, perhaps Horikoshi is building off that treat in the upcoming epilogue.
