Grimes Begs Elon Musk to ‘Respond to Our Child’s Medical Crisis’ in Upsetting X Posts

What is going on with Grimes, Elon Musk, and their kids, and why is it happening on Twitter? (We know Musk renamed Twitter to X, but since he also named his son X, we’ll be calling it Twitter for the sake of clarity).

Over the past several months, Musk has brought his son Lil X along on various public appearances, including to a live presser in the Oval Office alongside Donald Trump on February 11. But Grimes, the mother of Lil X and two of Musk’s other children, has made it clear on social media that she does not want the four-year-old placed in the public eye in this way.

Grimes, whose legal name is Claire Boucher, and Elon Musk began dating in 2018 and officially broke up in 2021, though their relationship remained “fluid” for a while after, according to her Vanity Fair interview. The two share three children, X AE A-XII (nicknamed Lil X), Exa (nicknamed Y), and Techno Mechanicus, who was born in September 2023. That same month, according to the Independent, Musk filed a custody lawsuit against Grimes, and she filed a countersuit. Since then, the back-and-forth between the parents has played out on Twitter.

February 20, 2025: Grimes again reaches out to Musk via Twitter, claiming in a series of since deleted tweets that he needs to respond to her “about our child’s medical crisis,” per People.

She added, “I am sorry to do this publicly but it is no longer acceptable to ignore this situation. This requires immediate attention.”

In a separate tweet, she continued, “If you don’t want to talk to me can you please designate or hire someone who can so that we can move forward on solving this. This is urgent, Elon.”

Though she did not share the details of the “medical crisis” facing one of the couple’s three children, she noted in a reply to another user that “our child will suffer life long impairment if he doesn’t respond asap.”

“I’m not giving any details but he won’t respond to texts call or emails and has skipped every meeting,” she wrote in a message to a user who suggested that “going public” was not the best way to communicate with her ex. “So I need him to fucking respond and if I have to apply public pressure then I guess that’s where we’re at.”

A source close to Grimes elaborated to People, “Instead of being present in his children’s lives, he’d rather tweet memes.”

According to the outlet, Grimes replied to two more users on X: To a user who asked if she’d taken her child to a pediatrician and received a second opinion, she said, “yes.” To a different user who suggested her account may have been shadow-banned on X, she said “Lol.”

February 2025: After Lil X appears with Musk at the Oval Office, Grimes responds to a tweet, indicating that she wasn’t aware that her son was going to be there and that she disapproves. “Lil X was very polite today! You raised him well. He was so cute when he told DJT ‘please forgive me, I need to pee,’” the user tweeted. Grimes clarified, “He should not be in public like this. I did not see this, thank u for alerting me. But I’m glad he was polite. Sigh.”
